Chapter 32.

Wednesday 6.30am-
My alarm blasted through my room almost giving me a heart attack! My time off was over it was time to go back to work.

I said my prayers, and begrudgingly rolled out of bed. I put my slippers on, and walked into the bathroom to get ready for the day. I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror, the swelling had definitely gone down. The scratches had also faded, I could cover the rest with make up no big deal.

I played my gospel playlist to get me started, the first song to play was 'Israel and New Breed- Friend'.

7.45am-
I got into my car and began to drive to work, balancing a piece of toast in my mouth. I was the last to leave the house, as the family had already left for work.

I was in such a positive mood, time off was always needed. I wished the reason for my time off was a happy one.

My Boo: 07:50- "Have a great first day back at work, missing you! Tell me later, can't wait to hear all about it" Daniel texted.

I got the notification whilst driving but opened the message once I was parked. The text alone already brightened up my day.

I replied to my boo. "Thank you baby, I miss you! I'll definitely call you later. Have a good day too xxx".

8.18am-
"Milaaaaaaa!" I heard Jess scream, as she ran towards me and almost pushed me down onto the stone flooring. Embracing me in a hug, she bombarded me with cheek kisses, all I did was laugh.

"Alright, alright" I said laughing as I pushed her off, and wiped my cheek.

"Welcome back Mila!" The staff said as I walked into the staff room, I gave everyone a smile. "Thanks guys" I said, I had only been gone 2 days, and the reception I received made me feel like a celebrity.

"Ms Ansong, my office please". Anna said, as she peaked her head around the staff room door.

I followed Anna closely as we walked towards her office, my heart raced as we walked through the long, freshly waxed floor corridors. The smell of food cooking in the school kitchen, mixed with a strong smell of bleach as the cleaner mopped the toilets filled my nose. I was actually happy to be back.

As soon as we entered Anna's office, she closed and locked the office door. I was anxious now, I bit down onto my lip and waited for Anna to speak.

"Welcome back Mila, it is good to see you. How are you feeling?"

"Much better thank you," I said, exhaling. " I really look forward to getting back to work too".

"Fantastic, only you know as I am the head. I need to make sure, staff are 100% before they go back into the classroom, in the presence of the children again. So if at any point of the day you feel uneasy, or want to go home please do let me know".

"I'll be fine", I said, quite annoyed at the fact she probably thought I was unfit to teach. I was probably the best, or one of the best teachers in the school. I guess she had seen me have like three break downs, so I did not really blame her, she was just doing her job.

8.30am-
Walking back to my classroom, I felt someone tap my shoulder.

"Ms. Ansong, good to see you". I stopped and rolled my eyes before I turned around. As soon as I saw Bradley, I smiled unintentionally. The air dry, curly honey blonde mop was back on his head. I really liked this hair style on him, he added a little side part not a perfect neat one like he usually does. It was a bit scruffy but looked good.
