Chapter 3~Road To Recovery

this may be a little confusing for some, but in this chapter, Adam starts seeing things that aren't real. So yeah xx

ADAM'S POV

As I stare at the phone in my hand, I do not dare answer it. It must be a trick.

Zoe. How can Zoe be calling at this time? She's dead. Her cell phone has been cut off for nearly six months now. I slowly slide it to answer and put the phone to my ear.

"He..Hello?" I ask shakily, but quietly as I did not want to alert Tommy.

"Dad?" Zoe's voice says with hurt in her tone. It's her voice, I have missed her voice so much.

"Who is this?" I demand. This is all a trick. It cannot be Zoe.

"It's Zoe. Do you not remember me?" She says, I can picture her frowning.

"You're...You're dead" I say, my voice cracking.

"I never got to say good-bye. I wanted to say good-bye. Someone else wants to say good-bye." She says, there's shuffles with muffles of voices then I hear a voice I thought I'd never hear again, Ashley.

"Hey Addy" She says, her tone mixed with hurt and happiness.

"Ashley?" I ask in nearly a whisper, What is going on?

"I miss you and Tommy. How are you and Sauli?" She asks, a tear slips from my eyes. "Adam?" She asks in confusion.

"We broke up today" I cry. She gasps. "He met someone new."

"Don't worry about him, Addy. You deserve better." She says, trying to cheer me up. Then there's silence, I look at my phone and there's nothing there. I hug my knees and bury my head into my arms, crying. It was just my mind playing tricks on me. But that's when I felt someone touch my hand. I look up to see not only Ashley but also Zoe. I slowly stand to my feet. Not even believing my eyes.

"I've missed you." Zoe cries as she hugs me tightly, I stand there, not sure what to do. I kneel down one knee and hug her tightly.

"I've missed you so much too, baby" I cry as she pulls away, tears down her cheek, I wipe them away with my thumb and smile. Is this real? Of course it is, she's her, in front of me and she's staring me in the eye. I stand up and hug Ashley tightly.

"I'm sorry I left" She cries into my shoulder, she pulls away and holds Zoe's hand. "We have to go" She says sadly. They start to walk out of the room and down the hall way.

"Wait." I cry out as I chase after them, they enter Zoe's room and I follow. I see them, standing there with my Mom. I cover my mouth with my hands. "Mom?" I whisper. She smiles as she looks at Ashley and Zoe and soon they disappear. "MOM!" I scream as I fall to my knees. "PLEASE! DON'T LEAVE ME!" I scream louder as tears cascade down my face.

"Adam?" I hear Tommy say behind me before he pulls me into a hug.

"They called me, they were right there. I saw them Tommy!" I cry into his chest.

"See who? Who called you?" He asks as he rubs my back.

"Zoe..Ashley..Mom" I choke out. "They were right there. I held Zoe. It was so real"

"Adam, you need sleep, you're hallucinating." He says, I look him dead in the eye.

"It was so real, Tommy. They were there." I cry. Tommy stays silent as we sit there on the floor, as he holds me.

A few minutes later, there's a knock at the door.

"It's open!" Tommy yells out. "It's just Monte" He says to me.
