The outfit consists of a black pair of jeans a little ripped, a military green bottom up top just long enough to reach the start of the jeans and a long grey cardigan to top it. An employee stops next to me.
''It's really cute and perfect for date night''. I agree with her, letting her believe I'd be so lucky to have a date.
''Would you like to try it?'' she then asks me. I nod.
The outfit is best described as cute and casual at the same time. It fits me amazing and the employee even asks if she can take some pictures for their website. I let her and change back to my original outfit, which now seems boring. I look at the price tags and feel my heart sink. If I add it all up it will be 195 dollars. If my dads money counts, that's 30 more dollars than I have on me.
''You'll buy it right?'' the sweet lady asks me.
''I don't think so''.
''50% off?'' she gives me a smile ''You'll get discount for the pictures I took''.
I smile and take the deal.
Once I'm back on the bus heading to the hotel, I check twitter again. The tweet is still there, but now it doesn't seem as personal anymore for some reason. He's just saying today is a good day.
I type back some of my friends in New York, trying to ignore the ugly pictures that's posted of me all over my social media.
I get of the bus across the hotel and see my dad standing in the lobby on his phone. God, please let it be anyone else than work. I get close enough to hear the conversation.
God definitely heard my prayer, cause this sounds a lot more like flirting to me. And no one wants to hear their dad flirt. I cover my ears and hide behind a tall plant, till he hangs up.
''Hey dad'' I greet him coming out of my hiding spot. He turns to me and gives me a hug.
''Did you get something good?''. I nod and we take the elevator to our room.
I take my time getting ready and end up actually liking the result. It's not often I feel the need to make something out of myself and when I do people notice. The clothes is still the most comfortable ever. My hair is loose and curled and a little makeup is on my face.
Dad knocks on the bathroom door letting me know it's almost time to leave. I take a last deep breath, looking in the mirror and walk out.
A car is coming to pick us up and drive us to the carnival. We get in the very nice Audi, my family just as excited as me.
''Did you hear anything from Shawn today?'' my dad asks and I turn my phone on checking for the 70th time today.
''No''.
Is that supposed to worry me? Is he still coming, or did he get caught in work or something? He would have told me if anything happened--right?
