''Are you okay?'' Shawn finally asks me. ''I'm fine''.

''Since when is a girl who says she's fine actually fine? Not that I know a whole lot about it, but I can see you're not''. I turn to him uncrossing my arms. I tell him the truth.

''I'm just not thrilled, that she's coming tonight''.

Shawn tries to give me a hairflip. ''Tell me about it''. It makes me crack up a little, but I'm not giving in. I'm pissed.

''Don't forget you invited her'' I point out.

''True, but not because I want her there. It just kinda rough to tell my bodyguards niece, who also happens to be playing a main part in my music video no''. Wait what? Is she Jakes niece? ''Maybe I understand. Just a little, but I really don't like her''

''Why?'' I think he knows why.

''She's disrespectful, tall, beautiful, a good actor...'' Shawn doesn't let me go on for long, before pulling me away from what would have been my dead. A huge horse is now in full gallop where I stood only a few seconds ago.

''Sorry, but just because she's invited doesn't mean we have to talk to her''. Did that sweet canadian boy really just say that?

In front of us is the giant ferris wheel, I'm sure you could see all the way to New York from. Then it hits me. ''We're not going up there. Did you forget I'm afraid of heights or something?''. He laughs but somehow once again gets us trapped in the line.

''Relax Jess, I can hear your heart beating all the way over here''. He laughs but I don't find it funny.

''I almost died a minute ago and now you want to kill me by taking me up in that thing! It's my birthday!'' I freak.

He puts a hand on my shoulder, to steady me. ''Then I'll save you again. But you won't die. Besides, I have another present for you and you won't get it unless you go with me''

''You're blackmailing me and I will not accept it''.

''Then go with me by choice'' He moves his hand from my shoulder to my neck, and all the way up to my cheek. I sigh. ''Fine''.

''You're blushing'' No. I look down to control my face. ''It's the light. I don't blush''

The line moves and it's soon our turn. ''Right''.

My heart is beating faster and faster as we're put in one of the wagons. It gives a jerk, when the machine starts and I take a grab on Shawn's jacket.

''Take a deep breath'' he whispers, obviously trying to calm me down. Seemingly looking into his eyes doesn't help my breathing, and only makes my heart race even faster.

I could walk faster than the speed we're going at, but the slowness somehow makes the view even prettier. We get to really let the view set its print in our minds. Even above all the light and music, it doesn't feel any less magical or any less capturing.

I look at Shawn grinning. He loses my grip on his jacket and take my hand in his again. No matter how many times he does it, it doesn't change the way my whole stomach flips and turns at his touch. The night breeze and slight afterlight lays a beautiful glow on his already beautiful face and like magnets we're drawn closer. The last thing I saw before letting myself be consumed by the slight touch of his lips against mine, was the light from the carnival coming back. When you stop thinking and let yourself act by nature it's almost like you can feel the freedom run through your veins. And then everything just seemed worth it. The looong flight to Toronto, spending the summer away from my few friends, exploring boundaries...

Suddenly I felt worth it. Shawn leans forward to deepen the kiss, but we are greeted by a bump, throwing us straight back into reality. We were at the ground.
