chapter 9

LESLIE'S POV

Everyone was dancing and enjoying the party , swaying wine glasses in their hands .

When I saw Tom heading upstairs and after 20 minutes eva  following him , I was shocked.

There were million thoughts crossing my mind and not a single one of them was good .

I followed her upstairs and watched her banging the wrong door and then being protected by Tom and being snatched to his room.

I had no idea what was happening.I followed them.

I peeked in from the keyhole when I saw the most dreadful sight of my life .

Tom and eva were kissing , and that was a passionate one and even out of my imagination.

My eyes filled with tears the moment I saw that and I ran towards my car and told my driver to take me anywhere but here .

I never expected this sought of betrayal would be there and by my own bestfriend and my boyfriend.

Eva's POV

"Last night was just awful." I said to myself getting ready for funeral of Mrs Jones, Leslie's mother . I don't know how I will face leslie, I was guilt ridden and ashamed of what I did last night , even if i was drunk .

I tried to call her but there was no response, I think maybe she is busy with preparations.

What happened was just not right , I had to talk to leslie . I talked to myself heading downstairs.

"You sure , you don't need me to join you." My mom asked .

"Yes mom, I can see you are busy and it will be fine."I replied closing the door and picking up my  car keys .

After 15 minutes I was sitting inside my car in Leslie's driveway ,when a man wearing a sleak  black suit  ,took my car keys to park it as  I headed inside.

We all mourned the death of Mrs Jones and some lines were spoken by people close to her .

Leslie was really upset and I didn't know why but she was not talking to me.

After 2 hours of ceremonies , everyone left but not me .

"Why are you not talking to me " I asked leslie forcing her to face me .

She ignored me and ran upstairs.

I was going to follow her when suddenly her father stopped me and told me that she is really missing her mom and i should leave her alone .

"But I am her bestfriend , I can talk to her and you know.. support her.." I said to Mr Jones.

"Please you must listen to me and leave. I am her father and can decide whats wrong or right for her . "He said and I was in no mood to argue and left without any further conversations .

I reached home, and jumped on the couch , deciding to call mom and talk to her .

"Hi "my mom said , picking my phone on second ring.

"Hi , mom . When you will be back?.

"Someone's missing me...."she replied making me nod .

Without me saying anything she continued...

" I will be late today as I have to meet Mr Smith on my way and have to decide the way our case should go ...as tomorrow is the very first hearing ."she said making me regret that I dont even remember such important thing .

"I am sorry mom I forgot . I will be there tomorrow ." I apologized.

"No , honey it's fine . I know how busy you are with your own life and preparations of law school. By the way , only 10 days are left "she said to me.
