Chapter fourteen

Tris pov

"I'm so pregnant" I say rubbing my belly while Tobias and I shop for baby stuff

"You're so cute" Tobias tells me and kisses my head.

I find a onesie with cute dinosaurs on them and show Tobias.

"Babe can we add this to the cart. Look how cute it is" I say

"I'm happy with whatever you want" he says and I giggle adding two of the onesies to our online cart. We are baby shopping online.

Tobias and I look at each other and he gently kisses me.

"I can't wait to meet our girls" He says

"Me too" I tell him pecking his lips

There's a knock at the door and I giggle holding letting go of his hand as he goes to answer the door.

Tobias pov

"Hi. Is there something I can help you with" I ask the guy standing at my door

"I'm Dylan. I'm Sophie's real dad" the guy says and I look at him confused

"What are you talking about. I'm Sophie's dad. You must have the wrong Sophie" is all I can manage to say

"Lauren and I were together the same time you two were together. I knew she was cheating but I stayed with her anyway. When she left schools when she found out she was pregnant I went with her. When Sophie was born we took a DNA test and it proved I was her dad. Lauren and I later broke up once Sophie turned one and I was never in her life again. Now that Lauren is dead I want my daughter. I want to be in her life. I know you and your girlfriend have been raising her, Lauren filled me in on that before she died but please let me raise my daughter. I owe it to her" Dylan says and I look down taking everything in.

"Hey babe who's at the door" tris says coming up behind me.

"Tris meet Sophie's real dad" I whisper and she looks at me with the same confused face I had.

"You can't just believe this guy" she spits out and I sigh

"I believe it. When Lauren and I were dating I suspected these two were together but I never said anything" I tell her and she just walks away.

"This is some crazy shit" she says and I sigh

"Tris. Honey, calm down" I tell her gently

"Why would Lauren do this? Why would you do this? Now Sophie is going to switch homes yet again" I say

"She's still young. It's okay" He tells me

"It's not okay Dylan. It's not okay" I say a little loud.

"Can I see her" he tells me

"Just wait" I say letting him come in and walking to Sophie's room. Tris follows and before I enter she grabs my hand.

"Are you really letting him take soph" She ask me

"That's his daughter. He'll take me to court or something" I tell her

"I don't like this" she says looking down

"I know but we will keep in touch. There's not much we can do babe" I say and she begins to cry. She let's go of my hand and walks to our room.

I walk into Sophie's room and she's peacefully sleeping.

"Sweetie wake up" I say

"Hi daddy" she says rubbing her eyes as she sits up and starts to wake up.

The words daddy make me want to scream. I care for this little girl, I thought she was mine. I don't want her to go. I know tris is devastated.

"Grab some of your favorite toys. You are going to go with a really nice man who is going to take good care of you. It turns out mommy got confused when she gave you to me. I'm not your real dad" I tell her

"What" she says confused

"I know sweetheart" I say hugging her

"I will still see you all the time. Tris will come too. This is not the last you will see us" I tell her and I wipe her tears

"I don't want to go daddy" she says

"It's okay. Everything will be okay" I say

"You are not going to take her. No matter if you're her real father or not" I hear tris screaming in the living room.

I jump from Sophie's bed and run to the living room.

"Tris. Calm down. You're not suppose to be stressing" I say to her and she moves closer to Dylan with her finger pointed at him.

I grab a hold of her waist and pull her close.

"Dylan is there anyway she can stay with us. We will bring her to you whenever you want to see her, you can visit her here but please she has already gotten comfortable with this lifestyle. Please we are begging you" I tell him and he sighs

"Fine" He says

"Just don't even bother looking for me, I don't want to do this" he says and I sigh

"Dude we are in a odd situation. You have to understand what's best for Sophie" I tell him

"I'm her father. Sorry her crazy mother kept me out of everything" He says and Sophie walks out with her teddy bear.

"I will go" she says

"What Sweetie" tris says

"I will go. I will spend time with my real dad. I have to. He's the only parent I have left" she says and I give her a sad smile.

The kid has had it hard.

"If that's what you want then okay" I say to her

I bend down to her height and hug her.

"I love you soph" I tell her

"I love you too" she says and goes to tris who's a crying mess.

"Be a good girl and If you ever want to come to visit please do. I love you beautiful girl" Tris says hugging her

Sophie walks over to Dylan and Dylan quickly hugs her.

"Hi sweetie. I'm your dad, Dylan" he says introducing himself.

"Hi I'm Sophie" she says and they smile at each other

"Thank you guys" Dylan says to us and tris sighs

"Please have her come visit" I tell Dylan and he nods

"Bye tris. Bye da- Tobias" Sophie says

I give her a smile and they turn and leave.

Once the door closes. I turn to tris and she's back to a pool of tears.

"I feel like I just lost a child" She says

"Me too. Me too" I honest say

Goodbye Sophie :(

This isn't the end of Sophie though
