Chapter twenty four

Tris pov

Tobias should be home from work any minute now. He's been back to work for a week now and it has been occupying his mind.

Me. I'm in the process of starting my own business online. I like to bake so I'm thinking of selling baked goods and starting a business out of it. One day who knows maybe I can open my own shop.

Tobias and I have still been pretty distant but at least we eat dinner together, we still sleep in the same bed, just no affection what's so ever.

For tonight's dinner I set candles around the living room and a blanket for us to sit on as we eat.

The front door opens and his eyes meet mine. His eyes then drift to the silky pink nightgown I'm wearing.

"What's all this" he says undoing his tie and laying on the couch.

"I thought we could eat dinner in the living room today. Set the mood, maybe talk more then a few sentences" I say

He kicks off his shoes and joins me on the floor.

"Thank you for dinner but I ate with the guys before I got here" he says and I roll my eyes, picking up our plates and storming off to the kitchen.

He follows, noticing that I'm upset.

I drop the plates in the sink and squeeze the edge of the counter, looking down as tears fill my eyes.

"Look tris, I'm sorry, I didn't know dinner was so special tonight" he says

"It is Tobias. You're all I have left. Lately it seems like all we do is drift apart instead of mend each other back together... back to sanity. It seems like life is just falling apart as we speak" I say overwhelmed and he looks down shaking his head.

"I'm sorry honey, I'm trying" He says

"I'm trying too. I'm trying to hold our relationship together while you just let it fall apart" I say

"It's hard to be with you when all you ever do is remind me of them. They were two mini you and I miss them so much" Tobias tells me and I kick the cabinet under the sink.

"Just leave me then. We will never be the same if that's all you see me as" I say

He strides over to me and smashes his lips on mine.

"I love you" he says and I look at him worriedly.

What if he actually decides to leave me?

"I love you too" I say shakily

Please don't leave me Tobias... please.

"I want us to go back to normal more then anything but it will need time. I'm going to need time, but believe me. I'm not going anywhere" he says and I lay my head on his chest.

I let out a big breath and he holds my head up to his and pecks my lips. I hold a hand to his face and deepen the kiss but he quickly pulls away.

"I'm going to shower. I'll see you in bed" he says kissing my head and leaving me in the kitchen.

"Okay" I whisper as he walks away.

I run a finger along my lips and smile.

That's the first time we kissed in weeks.

I have to move forward with life and I want Tobias in it with me, I hope he's thinking the same.
