*Kendal's POV*
As soon as a unlocked the door, I ran into my room, dumped my bag onto the floor, jumped into my bed closed my eyes. Finally the best time of the year had arrived... the summer holidays! Ten weeks off school to do whatever I want (which the permission of my parents of course.) My friends and I had already planned what we were doing during the first week of our holidays. I just couldn't wait for all this to happen. I vowed that my teenage years would be the best years of my life. My thoughts were suddenly broken by the sound of my door being swung open.
"Hey! Oh hi daddy?" I was confused, usually my dad knocks my door before he enters my room.
"Where have you been?!" he asked.
"School closed for summer?"
"Yes, I know but why are you arriving so late, I've sent you several messages and calls you haven't replied. The three of you go to same school so you can't lie about the closing times."
"I did text you back! Look." I pulled out my phone and realised I forgot to hit send. "Whoops, Sorry I guess I forgot to press send."
"So why were you so late?"
"You know that everytime school closes early I go and eat out with my friends. I bet Kenton's not even here yet."
"Well he saw my message and came home straight away." Weird.
"Daddy, what's going on?" Yes, I still call my parents mummy and daddy, laugh if you want to.
He sighed. "Just get out of your uniform and come to the sitting room once you're ready."
"Okay." He walked over to me, kissed my forehead, gave me a small smile and then left. I wonder what's bothering him.
I did as he said and quickly changed out of my uniform and put on my much more comfortable clothes, then dumped my uniform into the laundry basket, and then I entered the living where everyone were seated.
"Hi." I sat inbetween Kenton and Kalum,
"Do you want anything sweetie?" my mum asked.
"No thanks mummy, I'm still pretty much full." She nodded, then my dad cleared his throat.
"As you now, it's been a while since we've seen Grandpa Dias." The three followed what he was saying. "I recieved a call from grandma today... She was very upset... for two reasons actually one, I don't bring you guys over enough." he laughed to himself. "And the other reason is... is because the doctors have just her that grandpa is terminally ill." Grandad is dying?
Kalum silently spoke up, "Daddy, what terminally ill mean." Poor Kalum, he was only thirteen.
"Terminally ill is what they say for someone who really poorly but there's nothing they could do to make them better, Kal." Kenton answered. Kalum scrunched his face in thought.
"So, is grandad going to die?"
"Yes... he is." He had pain-striken look his face. "So we are all going to visit him so remembers you all just before he goes and your memories of grandpa are refreshed and not forgotten."
"When are we going?" I asked.
"In 2 days." I gasped in shock as did Kenton and Kalum.
"Why did you all gasp? He just told you that his father, your grandfather is dying, the sooner we're there, the better." My mum said
"I was just suprised at the speed of all of this." I said thoughtfully.
"Well, you better get used to the idea. You better pack now." We all nodded. "Dinner's going to be at 6pm so make sure you all are ready to set up the table." So much for the best summer ever, family reunion here I come.
