ON A COMMERCIAL FLIGHT TO NEW YORK CITY
It has been only two days since the Possible/Stoppable Team had gotten the call for the interview, and only two and a half hours since they boarded their plane to New York. Jameson was true to his word about paying for the flight, though he refused to pay for economy class, making our duo sit in coach for the entire flight. They didn't mind at all, they had been in worse forms of transportation than this, and besides, they found their own ways of entertaining themselves.
Kim spent most of the flight reading up on the Bugle's reputation and credibility, leading her to question why they would be asked to be a part of an exclusive interview. She also noted how much of the Bugle's articles, stories, and pictures involved the costumed vigilante Jameson had talked about. Kim was just about to consider doing a search on the red and blue cladded being, when she heard Ron squealing in excitement next to her.
Ron was enjoying a few packs of peanuts that were provided by the flight attendants, but with a twist: El Diablo Sauce from Bueno Nacho. Upon a napkin, Ron and Rufus set up a dipping station for the sauce and dip the stale peanuts into a spicy hot buzz of flavor. Kim was a bit annoyed at this, only because Ron was proving that he could do some impossible things that she would never try.
"Ron" she questioned, "how were you able to sneak that on-board?"
"Never question the endless capabilities of the 'Muy Diablo', Kim" he answered, finishing his reasoning with a think Latin impression. "I mean, remember the time it deactivated a robot tick that was stuck to your nose."
"As memorable as that experience was" Kim groaned, "I still don't know how you we're able to pull that off."
"Endless capabilities" Ron gloated again, earning another groan from Kim. "Whatever, it still doesn't make sense to me, kind of like this interview. Like, who calls us out of nowhere just to drag us across the country for an exclusive?"
Ron smiled, "Oh Kim, how modest of a girlfriend I have." Kim raised an eyebrow at this, wondering what silly pep talk he was going to give her this time around. "Didn't you hear what that Jameson guy said, you saved the world a lot."
"So..."
"People look up to you, KP. They know how important you are, yet you don't even realize it."
"I know that I'm important, Ron" she replied. "I know what I do betters the lives of those we help. It's no different than what all first responder's do on a daily basis."
"All I'm saying Kim is maybe you should start seeing yourself as the hero that you are."
Kim felt a bit annoyed that Ron was trying to hype-up her inner hero. Yeah, sure she saved the world on multiple occasions, but she always did it because she wanted to help people, not because the world was asking for her to be a hero. And if anything, she was just an average person like everyone else, which is a hard thing to keep up if you are travelling the world and saving it. However, she had been doing this for five years, and the idea of being a hero had never really clicked with her, until Ron's suggestion. Maybe she was pushing her hero persona to the side in favor of trying to be a normal person. Maybe she did think of her globe-trotting as a usual normal life occurrence.
"I'm sure that Spider-Guy sees himself as a hero" Ron cut into her thoughts, Kim scowling annoyingly. "Excuse me?!"
"I mean look at the guy" Ron exclaimed gleefully. "He wears a skin-tight costume, has amazing spider-like superpowers, and he's plastered on almost every front-page issue of the newspaper. The guy just screams superhero!"
"Ron, those same newspapers say that Spider-Man is a fraud, a vigilante. A guy that has no business dealing with things the police should be handling."
