"Wake up, lovebirds." Darry's voice interrupted my sleep. My dream was weird, really weird. From what I remember, I was standing here, in the middle of Tulsa. People were standing around me in a circle. I couldn't see them, my vision was blurred. They seemed to be yelling, but I couldn't hear them with the ringing in my head. All of a sudden, Tulsa disappeared, including everyone else. It was all black. Beneath me was glass, and it was cracking. I started panicking, wondering what was happening. Was I going to die, what was under this?
Then it broke, and I started falling. As I fell, I heard voices, unrecognizable voices. I heard the names again. "Ponyboy.. Sodapop..Darry..Johnny..Dally..Two-Bit..Steve..
There was words all around me, which appeared to be words from a book's pages. I couldn't read them.
Off and on I would hear their voices, the names, the words, and then, my friends. They were staring at me confused-like. Everything happened, over and over. I didn't think this hole I was falling down ever ended, and if I ever was going to wake up. Until Darry woke me.
"Comon Dar, the girl couldn't sleep. She needed some comfort too." Ponyboy mumbled.
He let me go and went into the kitchen with Darry to make breakfast. We were having bacon and eggs. Soda got up not too long after.
"Hey y'all" he said yawning.
"Hey" I said, getting up and sitting at the kitchen table. Soda sat next to me.
"Say, girl, did you remember anything about this mysterious black out?" He asked.
"Actually I did." I replied.
"Really, what?"
"Well. I didn't come here alone."
"Other people were with you?"
"Yeah." But then it hit me. Maybe it was just me, maybe they didn't actually have the same experience as me. "Well. Atleast I think so"
"Ooh, id love to search for more people from the future. That sounds fun." Soda smiled.
"Hope no ones having fun without me.." A boy bursted through the door, followed by another one. They looked tough. Everyone here had greased back hair. I could tell that it was the 1960s.
"Uh oh," Darry joked, "Double-Trouble"
They ran into the kitchen and sat down. Immediately they looked at me. It made me uncomfortable.
"You going for the short broads, huh Soda?" One of them chuckled.
Darry laughed with him too. I didn't appreciate them making fun of my height, but I did admit it was funny. "Nope, Steve, that ones Pony's"
"She's not-" I cut off Ponyboy.
"I'm not anyone's broad. I had a boyfriend before, it's bad news." I said annoyed. Here we go with Zach again.
Everyone got quiet, and I guess the Curtis brothers wanted to tell them about everything. So they did, about how I was in 2014 Pennsylvania and somehow ended up in 1966 Oklahoma.
"Woah, haven't heard anything that interesting around here for a while, I'm Keith, but my friends call me Two-Bit." I waved.
The other one was stuffing his face with chocolate cake, so Sodapop introduced me to him.
"That's Steve, he's my best friend and works with me at a gas station down the road."
We all ate breakfast and talked. I showed them my phone and what it does.
"Wanna take a selfie?" I asked. They looked confused, but I gathered them around behind me and quickly realized I wanted to take a picture. They all smiled, except Two-Bit, he had a serious face, and Steve just flexed his muscle.
Snap.
Boy, if I ever go home, I have a story to tell the family. It upset me a little bit. I was beginning to like these guys, but I wanted to go home. I wanted to go see my friends and talk to them about everything. I wanted to go to school and mess with our personal stalker. I wanted to see my family, and I wanted to read my books. But I probably don't even have my friends.
I went and sat down on the couch and started to write a story on my phone. Two-Bit watched Mickey Mouse, Steve, Soda and Darry played cards, and Ponyboy sat next to me.
"Didn't know you wrote stories" Ponyboy said.
"I do sometimes. It reminds me of back home, like my friends and the school I went to." I replied quietly
"Tell me about your school." Pony said.
"Well. It really sucked for most of the part. Mostly the students, not the teachers. School is split into like 2 groups. The popular kids with all the money, and the portion I belong to, the kids with not as much money, and not as 'cool' as the populars. We would get judged, and criticized, we got dirty looks and rumors made up about us. We got made fun of, laughed at. Called nerds and geeks. I qualified for both of those because I read books all the time, which apparently isn't a cool thing, so I was a nerd, and I played the flute in my schools band, so I got considered a geek. You just can't escape it Ponyboy, you just can't."
Everyone in the room looked over at me, listening to what I had to say.
"It isn't any better over here, it's worse. Us "Greasers" get beat up and practically killed by the "Socs" because of the people we are. We fight so much it isn't even funny."
I shook my head. "It's emotional pain from my side. Sometimes it gets so bad that people hurt themselves, or even kill themselves."
"That's terrible" Ponyboy said.
"Sodapop, Steve, time for work" Darry said. They got into their DX shirts and headed out the door with Darry.
"You guys gonna go out?" Darry asked us.
"Yeah, I'll take Pony and Maddy somewhere." Two-Bit said.
"Alrighty" Darry left and drove away.
"Where do you guys want to go?" Two-Bit asked.
"Doesn't matter. We could go see a movie and walk around." Ponyboy offered.
"Works for me" Two-Bit said, "comon"
We followed him out the door and walked down the road to the movie house.
