I've been worrying about this all day. Sadie hasn't responded to Finn yet. What if she says no? Oh my god, I'll feel so embarrassed if Sadie says no. What if she thinks this is a date and she doesn't like me and that's why she says no? It's not like this is a romantic date, it's just us going to see a movie. What movie are we gonna see? I guess I should look up some movies and some showtimes in case she asks about that.
I was sitting in the kitchen looking up movies to go see while mom was at the sink washing dishes. Finn came down the stairs when I saw that Escape Room was out. It seems like it would be fun to watch. "Sadie says she'll pick you up at nine thirty, so be ready by then." Then my brother went back upstairs to his room. I sat there with a look of shock, but also some excitement. My mom had stopped washing dishes. "You're going out tonight?" She had asked. I turn to her and remember that I never asked her if I could go out.
"I-If that's okay?" I respond, hoping she'll say yes. My heart beats fast and loud as my mom just looks at me and I wait for an answer. I hope she says yes or else I'll look like a loser for having to cancel a date. The woman shrugs and goes back to doing dishes. "Of course it's okay. It's just a little unexpected for you to go out and talk to people." I let out a sigh of happiness before running upstairs to pick out my outfit for tonight. I really did want to treat this like a romantic kind of date, so I wanted to wear something cute and pretty. I want to look good for Sadie.

I was all ready in my navy blue mid thigh skirt, yellow knee socks, and white collared shirt under my yellow long sleeve sweater. I buckled my shoes and brushed through my hair for a clean look as I wait for Sadie to come pick me up. I hope she likes my outfit. What if she thinks I'm weird? What do we even talk about? I know we'll be watching a movie for the most part, but when we're not, what do we say to each other? I guess I'll just ask questions about her, get to know her more. I doubt she'll want to learn about me, I'm so boring.
The doorbell rang and I checked my phone. It was five minutes till nine thirty. She's actually pretty early. What if it's not her? I take my time going downstairs and see Finn and my mother standing at the door talking to Sadie. I hope they're not talking bad about me. The red head and I make eye contact as I come down the stairs. She smiled at me, she freaking smiled at me. Suddenly it feels a lot hotter in the house than it did before. "You look so beautiful." Mom tells me. I nod as a thank you before looking at my brother. He smiles and pats me on the back. "You do actually look very nice," then he turns to Sadie. "Take care of her for me."
Sadie held out her hand for me and I accept it as I step outside and into the night. "And have her home by midnight." My mom tells us as Sadie walks me to her car and opens the door for me. I thank her and get in before putting my seatbelt on. As she got behind the wheel, I look out the window and see my mom waving me a good bye. I wave back as we drive off. "So what movie did you want to see? I can pay for both of us and maybe even get snacks." Sadie spoke to me as we drove off. I just can't even believe that we're alone together. "Escape Room. It just came out a couple weeks ago." I inform her. Sadie smiles and bites her lip. Good lord that was pretty nice.
We made it to the theater and she helped me out of the car and into the building. She bought us two tickets and we went inside. "Why don't you get us some snacks while I wait for you by the theater. Get whatever you like." The older girl winks at me as she hands me thirty dollars. I nod and wait in line to get us some Skittles while she went down to the theater to wait for me. I don't really like popcorn so that wasn't on my mind. Finally after a couple minutes, I got us two sprites and two boxes of skittles before handing the guy a ten dollar bill. I thank him as I put the skittles in my handbag so I can carry the drinks.
When I went to go find Sadie, I saw her talking to another girl. The girl was laughing and brushing her hair behind her ear while Sadie bit her lip and looked her up and down. My smile went away after I saw them together. I wanted to run out of the theater screaming, but instead I tried something else. I stood up straight with my head up and a smirk on my lips as I approach the two. They didn't notice me until I was standing right beside my date. "Hi baby," I lean in and kiss the red head on the lips. She raised her brows at me. "I got you a soda, nothing too sweet. That's for after the movie, remember?" I wink at her before looking up at the girl in front of us. She looked me up and down before walking away.
Sadie and I walk in and chose our seats, the very back of the theater. It was empty and the movie didn't start for another twenty minutes so it was just previews. "Hey Mills, I just want you to know that the girl I was just talking to, we weren't like flirting or anything." The older girl tells me. I lick my teeth and hand her a box of skittles. "I hope you weren't." "I wasn't, I swear. She came up to me and asked what movie I was seeing and then she told me what movie she saw and-" "Sadie," I stop her from talking. I turn my head to look at the red head, my eyes darting down to her lips. "I'm your date." I remind her. She nods. "Yeah, I know." I nod. "Good." I look back up at the screen and finally realized that I kissed her and told her that I was saving something sweet for her after the movie. I can't believe I actually said that!
-----------------------
I love the dynamic of like a masculine woman and this very feminine pin up chick. Like I already pretty much dress like I'm from the sixties and seventies, now I just want my very manly girlfriend.
Also I don't think I mentioned this in the last chapter, but I've started putting music in chapters. I originally wanted to put like oldies and rap and then maybe remixes to sort of match the characters, but then I just did whatever the hell I did (added like lofi and alternatives).
Did you see Escape Room when it came out?
I didn't. Was it good? Tell me about it.💊
