EVEN POV
________i was fixing up someone's coffee order as i heard the door's entry bell ring- signaling of another customer. too focused on who's drink i was making, i didn't pay much attention to it but instead, finished up the order and stuck a lid on. i glanced upwards to hand it to my customer, only to see a familiar face in the very back of the shop with his eyes on me.
i softly smiled at him, receiving the same from him. i knew that he was a regular customer here and i even knew his order by heart because of that, not that it was anything too descriptive but i still knew it.
i handed the drink to my customer, darting my eyes away from the boy who was known as isak, only knowing that from when we had our first conversation a month ago when he came in for the usual. the customer thanked me and i barely even noticed because of how much the blonde in the back distracted me.
i became a little giddy knowing that i was going to get to speak to him again. he usually came every wednesday morning, and i knew that because he had been doing it for the past 4 months.
he walked up to me with a playful smirk on his face, hands shoved in his front jean pockets with a cute, burgundy snapback that i had seen him wear on more than one occasion. his oversized, big green jacket fit snugly over his frame in this cold weather and i couldn't help but admire the way he put himself together.
"god morgen, isak." i beamed, a faint smile tugging at my lips.
he grinned shyly, a small blush tinging his cheeks which was so incredibly wholesome and adorable. i guess you could say i had a teensy crush on little isak (who wasn't so little, considering he was 18), who visited my shop every wednesday. "morgen, even. how's your day been?
i tilted my head as i took a moment to think about it for a second, inhaling a sharp breath. "tiring." but worthwhile, now that you're here. "you?"
he nodded in understanding, "well, i haven't done much yet. i'm gonna head to school after this so it'll probably be boring as usual... but i will say that it just got better."
i raised an eyebrow at him as he smirked, feeling happy to see him finally loosen up a bit after all this time. was he implying that i had made his day better? "oh, really? why is that?" i asked in amusement, glad that there was no one in line behind him so that i could take my time with this conversation.
he chuckled lightly which was music to my ears. "you know why."
i let out a small laugh, wishing that this was how every morning was and not just on wednesday's- though, i wouldn't complain because it was better than never seeing him. plus, i guess i wouldn't appreciate it as much if i did get used to it.
"well, as for my order, i'd like a-" he started, but i cut him off before he could finish.
"vanilla latte, double shot of espresso with cream?" i finished for him, clearly enjoying the surprised expression plastered on his face at my words.
he laughed, raising his eyebrows at me in disbelief. "wow, am i really that consistent?"
"well, you have been getting the exact same order for months since you first started coming here."
"what can i say? it's delicious." he shrugged.
i smiled at him once more, "alright, isak. the usual for the golden boy." i turned around to the station, grabbing a cup and beginning to arrange his order.
it wasn't long before it was finished, maybe a minute or two but that was it. i turned back around, white mug in hand as i set his steaming hot drink down on the counter for him to take.
"thanks, even." isak said wittily as he pulled his wallet out of his pocket, opening it and skipping his fingers through the bills.
i reached my hand out, not thinking before gently pushing his hand down. he glanced up at me when we made contact, "it's on the house." i said meekly.
"oh, no- it's okay, really-"
"hey, as a customer that's been coming consistently for quite some time, you deserve it. plus, you keep good company which is also another reason." i assured, grabbing his mug to hand it to him.
with two hands, he took his cup from my grasp and stared at me, lips parted as if he was debating on arguing over the topic. "are you sure?"
i nodded in approval.
"alright, if you say so." isak smiled, "thanks again." to my surprise, he leaned forward over the counter and pressed his lips to my cheek- startling me a bit considering it was extremely unexpected.
i knew that whatever i was feeling towards him, he felt something back- it wasn't hard to tell, but for some reason, i was still shocked at the gesture.
he blushed a bit and i probably was as well before he made his way back to his table as i watched closely.
he sat down, setting his mug down on the table and that's when his eyes met mine. i held eye contact shamelessly, startled again when he winked at me.
