THIRD PERSON POV
________________

isak was resting his head on even's shoulder while they waited in an airport when the intercom went off. they had just figured out that their flight was delayed due to a thunderstorm outside.

something that nobody knew was that isak actually had a huge fear of thunder. the whole thought of lightning freaked him out and the loud booming sound of it didn't help. so far, he hadn't heard any thunder- but that was going to change soon.

even sighed in annoyance, "i can't believe our flight got delayed. we're gonna have to be here all night in these terrible seats."

"try to sleep." isak replied drowsily, too tired to put in much effort into his words.

"i can't." even breathed, throwing his head back in frustration and stared up at the ceiling. "there's nothing comfortable about these chairs."

isak thought for a moment, knowing his boyfriend was on his last nerve and didn't know how to make him feel better. "why don't i go get you something? they have starbucks, mcdonald's..."

"you sure?"

he hummed, nodding into even's shoulder and forced himself up out of his daze. even told him what he wanted, and after grabbing a few bucks, he was ready to go on his way. "i'll be back." isak said, smiling softly as he tried to lighten up the mood.

he began making his way to the small mcdonald's built into the back of the airport, clutching onto a few dollars. as he stepped up following behind in the short line, a loud rumble caused him to suddenly be alert.

the airport shook slightly and a loud boom noise came from outside. his heart began beating insanely and without thinking, he shrieked and ran back as fast as possible to even. the loud noise happened again and at that point, isak had leaped onto even's lap and buried his head in the crook of his neck.

"relax, it's just thunder." even said, laughing a bit but he really was concerned why isak reacted the way he had.

isak shook his head, refusing to let go. "i don't like it."

"wait- are you scared of thunder?" he asked, amusement rising in his tone as he pulled the smaller boy back to look him in the eye.

"no! i'm just-" another loud rumble came from outside and isak flinched again, letting out a girlish scream.

even laughed in disbelief, "oh my God, you are!"

"shut up!" isak groaned, playfully hitting even and climbing off of him to sit on his own chair. "it just startled me, is all."

a moment of silence passed before even glanced at isak, "so... the food..."

isak's eyes widened and he jumped up from his chair, "oops, i forgot." he said, his voice still shaky from how scared the thunder made him.

"it's fine, i'll get it this time." even said, standing up and taking the money from isak. "you just calm down."

the smaller boy looked embarrassed but brushed it off, sitting down in the chair and grabbing the armrests tightly as he waited impatiently for even to get back.

even started towards mcdonald's, getting in line and standing there as he tapped his foot impulsively. he shoved his hands in his front jean pockets and when the building began to shake again from another loud boom, he wasn't surprised to see isak racing over to him.

"that one was so big, even! i don't feel safe here!" isak exclaimed, his hands frantically finding even's warm body as he held onto him.

even chuckled in response, rubbing his partners back up and down in a soothing and comforting manner. "hey-" he said, grasping isak's attention as he looked down at him. "i'm not gonna let anything happen to you, alright?"

"okay... please don't tell anyone about my fear."

"i won't."

the worker at mcdonald's stared at the two awkwardly as he waited to take their order. "uh, you two gonna order or...?"
