THIRD PERSON POV
________________

"turn. off. the. light." isak's roommate, even- (who he personally despised) ordered in a stern, yet annoyed tone.

they had met about 3 months ago when they first moved into their college dorm together. they landed off on the wrong foot and were still having rough patches along the line of living together. their personalities were incompatible, or so they believed, and most of the time- they truly loathed each other. their relationship was full of snarky remarks and constant bickering over who got to use the TV, or telling each other to turn their music down, etc. i'm sure you can imagine what else.

"you can get off your lazy butt and do it yourself." isak snapped in defense, pulling his blankets up to his chin as he shifted in a comfortable position to doze off.

even rolled his eyes, his pride too big to just get up and turn it off himself. so instead, he shut his eyes, throwing his pillow over his head in attempt to restrain the light.

isak's eyes fluttered close, his body exhausted from the long day and all he wanted was to fall into a deep sleep and wake up at 2PM, but how was he supposed to do that when the bright light of his ceiling light shone painfully into his eyes?

he glanced over at even who had covered his face, annoyed at how stubborn and bossy he was (even though he was quite the same himself) and decided that if he wasn't gonna do it, no one would. even better not say anything about this, isak thought as he dragged himself out of bed, walking over to the light switch and flicking the light off.

to his surprise, his roommate said nothing, in fact. he was far too tired to even find effort to think of a witty remark.

both boys fell asleep after that, no further interaction for the rest of the night, thankfully, considering if there was, it'd probably only be endless arguing and neither of them would be able to sleep in the end due to their blood boiling.

about a week later, even was laying in bed, legs crossed with his laptop placed on his lap as he was a cheesy romance film. his earbuds were stuffed in his ears, volume so loud that he didn't even hear the door open, only noticing that isak had entered by the vibration through the floor of the door slamming.

even yanked his earbuds out, "hey, you better be gentle with the door 'cause i'm not gonna freaking pay for it when you break it."

expecting some type of sneer in return, even waited for a response- but when isak only rushed to his bed, slumping into the soft mattress and burying his face into his pillow as he let out a small sob, even knitted his eyebrows in confusion and maybe the slightest bit of concern.

he, of course, denied the fact that he would be worried over his roommate. he didn't care for him, not one bit, and he definitely wasn't going to ask what was wrong.

or was he?

"isak?" even said, his tone not gentle nor soft but still somewhat harsh and demanding by instinct. "did you hear me? i said i'm not gonna pay if you break that door." he repeated, only trying to get the smaller boys attention as he was genuinely curious why soaking his pillow with tears.

isak's crying stopped and now even could only hear his raggedy breathing and soft sighs as he tried to catch his breath. at this point, even was getting frustrated that he was being flat out ignored.
