ISAK POV
________

i stumbled out of bed after waking up from my slumber, making my way to to the kitchen to eat up some breakfast. i opened my cabinets to see different cereals and ended up choosing the cookie crisp. i grabbed the box along with milk from my fridge and sat down at table that was next to my window.

i realized there were goosebumps raising my arms at the cold, seeing that it was snowing outside as i poured my bowl of cereal. as i glanced outside, i furrowed my eyebrows to see someone in my yard with a shovel.

taking a closer look, i realized it was my neighbor, even, who i had only spoke to once for a brief moment when i moved in a few months back, shoveling the snow away from my front path.

i was a bit confused at first, wondering why someone would do that. it couldn't have been out of kindness right? no ones that nice. he probably wants something in return.

oh well, i decided to just let him keep doing his thing. i couldn't keep my eyes off of him as i ate my cereal, and from the angle- he didn't even notice me. i felt like a stalker, even though i was minding my own business in my house as he was the one on my property without permission.

i was only watching him to make sure he wasn't doing anything fishy, totally not because he's freaking hot.

i guess i had caught him at the end of his work by the time i awakened because he was already finishing up. i figured that once he was done, he was going to come pounding on the door saying how he had done a good deed for free and wanted something in return, which if he did end up doing that- i'd just ignore him or tell him off.

that never came, though. he just finished up and headed back to his home with a deadpan expression. i wanted a couple moments more, as if expecting him to come back or something, but he never did.

-

a couple hours had passed and i was beginning to feel a bit bad for assuming the worst of him when maybe, he really was just a good person. after realizing he wasn't going to come, i decided that i should return the favor whether he wanted me to or not.

i decided to order some pizza and would ask if my neighbor, even would like to join me. i snuck my jacket over my body so it was nice and snug before heading out into the cold winters, snow flying around as it got caught in my blonde locks of hair.

i made my way to his come, luckily not taking very long considering he lived right next door. my knuckles felt like ice on the door, it wasn't a very pleasant feeling.

the door was soon opened and i was greeted by a pale boy with rosy cheeks, beanie over his head and scarf around his neck as he smiled at me.

"hey, isak!" he beamed, an adorable, gentle grin on his face as curiosity peaked in his eyes.

"hey, even, i just wanted to thank you for earlier. i saw you shoveling the snow from my front walk and... yeah." i shrugged, chucking lightly as he returned the same lighthearted laugh.

he nodded, "of course, it really was no problem."

i knew that was a lie. there were a couple times he looked like he was struggling in that heavy snow, shoveling and shoveling for quite awhile before he got it all out.

"yeah, well- why don't you come over for dinner? i owe you one." i said meekly, silently hoping he'd say yes for reasons i didn't know why.

even raised his eyebrows at me as if surprised that i asked that, and honestly, i was surprised at myself as well. i usually hated interacting with people- but something about talking to him made me feel comfortable and welcomed. "that sounds great! i'll meet you over there in ten. does that sound good?"

i nodded shyly and tried to hide the wide smile threading to tug at my lips. "perfect, cool."

"looking forward to it." he said and smiled again before we said our 'see you in a bit's instead of goodbyes, then disappeared back into his home.

i shoved my hands in the pockets of my jackets, my cheeks turning pink at the friendly conversation i had just had. i never really interacted with my neighbors, let alone have friendly conversations with anyone (which was partly my fault)- it was nice to finally get a taste of it again.

i entered my house, closing my door behind me and letting out a content sigh. i impatiently waited for him, counting down the ten minutes he said he'd meet me in.

just because i was looking forward to it, it felt so much longer than it actually was due to me being eager for the dinner, but eventually he did show up.

i heard the knock on the door, abruptly getting up from seat in excitement before settling down. i combed through my messy curls with my fingers before opening the door, seeing the same lovely even with his bubbly personality.

"halla." he said softly and i smiled at him, opening the door so he could walk in to my warm and cozy home. "it feels great it here."

"yeah, i had the heater running." i responded truthfully, a feeling of comfort and warmth exploding in my body. i brushed off the feeling, thinking it was only cause i was excited to finally be having a normal interaction with someone outside of my friend group. "i, uh- ordered pizza. i hope that's okay?"

"yeah, 'course. who doesn't love pizza?"

i stared him, not realizing i was getting lost in his blue, dreamy eyes. to my surprise, he didn't break his gaze on mine either. he narrowed his eyes as if challenging me, but we both snapped out of that daze when the doorbell rang loudly.

"right on time." i mumbled under my breath, raising my eyebrows at even with a small smirk before rushing to the door.

i opened it, seeing the pizza man. it was a short exchange, i took the pizza- he took the money. i thanked him and now, it was time to eat.
