"DID YOUR GRANDMA EVER SEE YOU PERFORM?" The interviewer asked Elena. Her throat tightened, she swallowed the lump in her throat and shook her head. Her grandma, Daria, was one of the few people she deeply connected with. She pretty much raised her and taught her a lot of things. She passed away when she turned 20 and find it hard to talk about, even to this day.
"Do you think your grandma would be proud of you right now, of the woman you became?"
Tears slid down her pink cheeks and she quickly wiped them, giving the interviewer a smile.
"A lot of times, I always thought of what I could've done to help. Being half Persian I'm very close with my mother's side, and with my grandma.." Elena paused, taking deep breaths to avoid crying.
"She passed away after a year of my debut, and I didn't know. I remember being so mad at my mom for not telling me anything." She laughed as she played with her bracelet.
"No one really told me about it because they knew my schedule, and didn't want to put any more weight on it, and that destroyed me completely," her voice cracked and closed her eyes.
"Take your time, Elena."
