K-pop fans were in a spin this morning after Got7's Im Jaebum and singer Elena confirmed their romance.
Following a speculative report by Korean publication Dispatch that the pair were dating, reps for their respective labels confirmed the news and said the pair were "meeting with interest in each other."
After the dating news broke, Jaebum posted a message on his recent VLive to reassure fans. He thanked them for standing by him during the past year and apologized for not telling them his dating news sooner. For Elaheh's case, she posted a long message on her Instagram story about her new romance.
"First of all, I'm really sorry to everyone who may have been very surprised when they saw the sudden news this morning," Jaebum said. "I've received so much from fans and I feel grateful. I'll try to return more than that in the future."
According to South Korean news agency Dispatch, the two stars have been dating since the beginning of 2018. The duo has been close friends ever since trainee days, according to a source close to both artists.
Kim Seokjin, Elena's ex has spoken up about the dating rumors. They called it quits in 2015 and remained friends ever since. In 2017, she finally reiterated that she's on great terms with her ex, telling Soompi: "We didn't break up because anything bad happened or because there wasn't love or friendship. I love him, and the friendship is still strong, and I think he's great, and I care about him. And that didn't change. Yes, we're professional and that's fine. We were friends long before we dated and we still are now."
"They look happy, and I am happy, and so I don't see why there should be a problem with that," Seokjin said to Soompi.
