Roman was freaking out. He could've gotten to the mind a lot quicker if he teleported but Virgil wouldn't let him. He wouldn't have listened except he could see the pain in Vee's eyes. So instead he ran all the way home. Ran right in the door and started for the Dark part of the palace only for someone to grab his arm and stop him. He hadn't even made it past the entry.
"Roman, what is going on?" He whipped around so fast the hoodie he was wearing spread out like a cap as he glared at the man holding him back. He may not act like it... then again when does he ever... but he cares for his brother. They're brothers. Even if Remus is too much sometimes. If anything happened to that slimy sack of dark dream Roman would flip. He had to make sure he was ok. AND VIRGIL WAS PREVENTING THAT! "Ro..." Roman tore his arm out of Virgil's grip storming off purposely ignore the hurt look in the man's eyes. He'll make it up to him later right now he has to see Remus. "Roman!"
"Not right now, Virgil!" Roman rounded to corner towards there living room in a hurry. "I need to check on..." He froze up at the sight before him. The living room, or the commons as they all called it, was a total mess. The tv was playing Steven Universe loud enough to have a buzz coming out of the speakers. Paper littered the floor like an ocean of unfinished doodles. Empty coke cans and chip bags filled the tables. But what really caught his eye, was Remus carefully carrying a large glass bowl of water through the mess. "REMUS!"
"Shit!" The darker creativity jumped dropping the bowl on the floor. It shattered into a huge mess making the man frown in annoyance. "Oh, nip twisters." He groaned as he waved his hand over the mess causing it to fade from existence. "Well, there's got that idea."
"Parden me but what exactly were you planning?" Roman turned to see the others had joined him. Virgil was eyeballing the disaster area with an almost proud look.
"I was going to see if I could drown fish." Logan sighed fixing his tie sightly as Patton gasped next to him. Roman chose to ignore it. To be honest his head wasn't really focusing up that. He was focussing on the dull light green his brother's eyes were. He knew what it meant. Those two have color-changing eyes unlike the rest of them... Well, Virgil's does too just not in the same way. Roman ran over practically looking him over as a flood of questions tumbled out of him with seemingly no end. It wasn't until Remus grabbed his arms did Roman freeze. "Hey now, Penispop, what's gotten into you?"
"I just... uh... Nothing, um..." Remus let go of Roman's arms noticing the red that was slowly creeping into his brother's eyes. Something was definitely wrong. "Are you sure you're ok? Nothing tried to attack you? Nothing weird or..."
"No." Roman sighed a breath of relief only to freeze again at the intensity of the green in Remus's eyes. Those two are highly emotional and overdramatic but if the feeling was strong enough to make their eyes change color, especially to such an extreme, then there was an issue. Remus sighed as he tried to put that mask back on. The one that makes him look demented and proud but he was reeling. He was struggling to not snap over his worry for Deceit. "There was this glowy ball that shot out of nowhere." Roman just about broke down.
"It d-didn't touch you did it?" Roman noticed Remus's face fall instantly as his eyes began to literally glow. "Remus..."
"Why shouldn't it have touched me?" The rat's mind was filled with thoughts of Deceit in pain or worse. He tried to shake them but they only got worse as he stood there. "Roman, necesito saberlo." The lighter of the two made no effort instead he just stared at the ground filled with guilt.
"So it did touch you?" Remus was seconds from snapping. No scratch that... Remus was about to summon his mace right there but instead, he spun around to head back home. Deceit mattered more to him than all the thoughts saying Roman must have something.
"No, Ro..." He whispered out unsure if anyone could actually hear him or not as he left. "It did so much worse."
Remus's mind was in complete shambles. He was craking at the seams. That whole day was nothing but emotion and stress. And now... now it was getting worse. He clenched his fists tightly digging his nails into his palm, trying to keep him grounded and focused on the task instead of snapping and doing something too rash. He knew he should have gotten Logan. It was the one thought he had that he actually fully agreed with when it happened. Maybe he should go back and get the man before...
He had reached the door before his thoughts caught up to him and he shivered slightly. The icy metal cooled his heated skin as the emotion hell raged through him. He slowly moved the door open, walking into their living room with the full intention to go to Dee's room. He never made it. He didn't need too.
Instead, he found himself frozen looking over at this child who stood there with a look of incredible loss and confusion... and fear. A lot of fear.
"Deceit?"
