"Wait, WHAT?!" Roman's head was spinning. For one, when did Remus show up? Two... When did Remus cook and why did it smell so fucking good? And lastly... WHAT'S WITH THE CHILD?! "Logan?"
"I was trying to inform you of all this. You insisted on investigating the smell." Roman cringed slightly as Logan walked over to check out this 'chili'. Roman was honestly scared. What kind of chili would Remus actually make? He hardly thought it was edible even if the very scent made his stomach growl. "Why chili?"
"It's what he asked for." Remus smiled as he grabbed a small bowl carefully pouring some chili in before placing it on the table. Roman tensed up immediately creating a block to keep the child from eating it. He was confused and reeling. He wasn't really focusing on anything. All he picked up was his brother just made something and gave it to a child. His brother... the same person who thought bleach was some sort of adult beverage that only killed children because their bodies weren't old enough to handle it... that Remus. "What the hell? Let the kid eat!"
"He is NOT eating something that YOU made." Roman's voice dripped with a venom that made Deceit shiver as he turned to look at every one. He didn't like how all these new faces kept popping up. All three new faces scared him. Especially the one just standing in the doorway. His dark eyes gave off a haunting familiarity that Deceit was not comfortable with. It made his skin crawl with an almost anxious feeling. "For all we now you poisoned it."
"I did NOT!" Remus clenched his fists tightly as he poured another bowl smiling just to hide how hurt he was. "Why don't you try..." Roman slapped the bowl out of his brother's hand causing the darker to freeze up. Logan was worried now. Whenever those two were together shit always happens. Remus stared at the mess on the floor feeling the pain and anger building up in him. He was stupid. Obviously Roman wasn't going to try it. He shouldn't have ask. He shouldn't have... He shouldn't have slapped it out of his hands! Remus glared up at Roman, who tensed seeing the green in the other's eyes. "I get it. You don't trust me. But to do that..."
"Ok, I think it's time we all calm down now." This dark and soft voice rang through the room as the third figure finally spoke up. Deceit watched as he walked further in catching everyone eyes as he hugged his hoodie close. "We're all just a bit confused at why Dee is a kid. We should be focusing on that."
"NOT NOW VIRGIL!" Deceit jumped hearing the green man yell out only making his confusion and fear worse. He understood when Logan said everyone Dee knew had grown up but... was that really Anxiety? The little boy he gave his favorite stuffy to when he was 4. The same little boy that shook every time he tried to ask a question. He looked so... braver... strong.
"Do not yell at me, Duke. I was actually trying to help you."
"HELP HIM? What the hell, Vee? What about me?" Deceit was getting a bit overwhelmed with all the yelling. He sat there huddle a bit hoping it would all stop soon.
"Yes, him. Have you noticed how green his..."
"I SWEAR TO FUCKING GOD!" Remus screamed out summoning his mace and holding it stiffly at his side. Everyone froze up at the sight of it. Even Deceit. The man's eyes shined a vibrant and pure green as he shook with anger. Everything was getting to him. Everything that has happened... the entire days worth of stressful craking finally tore at him. "Fuck off." He growled out somehow lucid enough still to try and delay the inevitable. He didn't want to snap. He didn't want to do anything right now. If anything he just wanted them to listen to him. But it was hard with all the cracks in his mask. Roman stared at his brother in fear... and confusion. This was the first time he's actually seen the mace long enough to feel fear. Usually, the moment Remus summons it, it ends up swinging at the back of his head. Instead, he saw his brother shaking as he held it so stiff he was practically ice. "What is so wrong with cooking a fucking meal? IT'S NOT LIKE WE HAVE A KITCHEN ANYWAY?!"
"Re..."
"SHUT UP VIRGIL!" Dee watched as the man gripped the mace's handle so tightly his hands turned white. He knew that mace. Sure it was much larger obviously better sized for the man holding it than the small one he remembered. But he would know it anywhere... after all, it still had the engraving. 'Dee and Ray'... "That's it." A laugh tore through the man as the stiffness went away. "I've had enough." He looked crazed but Dee could see the tears falling from his wide eyes. 'Please Deceit? I don't want to hurt them. Don't let me hurt them. If you see me snapping... stop me. Please?' That soft sad voice filled Dee's mind as the green man raised his mace just a smidge higher. He could see the fear in everyone's eyes but the pain in the man's eyes was the most prominent. 'I don't know why I do it. I don't want to. You can stop me right? If I start to snap? I always listen to you. You always calm me down. Please, Dee. Promise me. I-I... I don't want them to hate me.'
"RAY, STOP!" Remus froze mid-swing eyes somehow even wider as he looked over at the child stumbling out of the chair, his anger and pain draining away at the sight of Dee worried and tear-filled eyes. "Ray, Stop. You... You want to do this. Listen... I'm not telling you to stop." Everyone quickly took several steps back fearing what would happen when Remus unfroze. Roman was just about to run and hold the child back when the sound of metal hitting the floor made him stop. His brother just stood there staring at the child, the top of his mace now resting on the floor. Tears fell from his eyes as he blinked, lost in thought. "Ray?"
"Y-You... You spoke?" Remus looked up at Logan questioningly, who was just as surprised as he was. It wasn't that Deceit couldn't speak. They knew he obviously could it was just Deceit was a very adamant selective mute.
"You didn't snap." Deceit ran over slamming into the man sobbing his eyes out. Remus was quick to desummon his mace and pick the kid up, holding him tightly ignoring the shocked and stunned faces of the others as the man moved to place Dee on the counter. "R-Ray?"
"You did good Dee. Kept your promise. I think you deserve something for that." He laughed lightly as the kid wiped his tears away. "How about... A cookie!"
"But you..." Remus handed him a cookie effectively quiet the crying side down as he cautiously glanced over at the others just staring at them. He was moments away from hurting one of them AGAIN! If Deceit hadn't stopped him...
"Forget it, kid. But this one is the absolute last one. I don't want Morality yelling now do we?" Dee laughed as he nibbled the cookie. The guilt and pain were palpable in the older dark side. "Thanks, Dee..."
