"So I'm not wrong about this. It has to be Rose right?" Roman was desperate as he searched Virgil for some sort of confirmation. The anxious one only sighed as he nodded. It made sense, and it was the only thing that happened. It had to have been... Virgil tensed up the moment the air seemed to change. His fight or flight reflexes were kicking in and they were kicking in bad. He stopped and looked up to find Remus standing there.
"Duke?" Roman froze up following Anxiety's gaze to find his brother stock still. Virgil's nerves weren't letting up in the slightest. Something was wrong. Remus looked up at them tilting his head slightly and it was like a punch in the gut. Tears fell from the man's electrifyingly green eyes but they held know life. They held no sign of awareness. They were blank and devoid of any spark. "SHIT! ROMAN!"
Virgil ran pushing his boyfriend out of the way seconds before Remus lashed out, but the man was not fast enough to escape the broken side. Remus's fist connected with Virgil's side forcing him back and causing his head to smack against the wall. Everything was swimming and blurry. Virgil couldn't even move. He just stared helplessly as the darker side swayed slightly straightening himself a bit. Virgil understood. Remus was not in control. He could tell by the emotionless and empty expression that Remus was not 'aware' at the moment.
"Roman, watch out." Virgil managed to force out of his aching lungs as Remus turned to his brother. Roman was stuck. He wanted to help Virgil but he didn't want to risk him getting hurt worse. "Remus... Re... something's wrong... He didn't... snap." Virgil's body completely gave out making him fall over as Roman's eyes went wide. "Help... him..."
"Help him?" Roman jumped back just in time to find Remus's fist through a wall. That alone was proof enough something was off. Usually, Remus summons his mace right off the bat. It's his preferred weapon. When the man snaps he always attacks with his mace. Just like Roman uses his sword. But now... Now Remus was... "Shit!" Roman sidestepped blocking with his wrists as his brother tried to punch him. Why was Remus using his fists? The man in question narrowed his eyes sweeping his foot under the other causing the man to fall. He attempted to throw his heel down hoping to catch the man skull but they moved just in time causing his heel to hit the ground. He could only growl. "Remus, please... What's..." The man only screamed lashing out over and over again but Roman been in enough fights to know how to defend himself. Remus wasn't landing a single hit but the expression on his face sure hit Roman hard. His brother was suffering. Even if he didn't understand why at that moment, he KNEW this was not Remus. Roman caught his brothers fist twisting him around enough to wrap his arms around him trying to hold him steady. "Remus, please snap out of it."
"S-Snap-p... Y-You mean l-like y-your fucking b-bones?" Remus threw his head back connecting it with Roman's nose sending him stumbling back. "S-Snap... c-crackle and pop!"
"Roman!" The creative man blinked the haze away to find Patton with two boys standing there in the kitchen doorway. Patton was on the verge of tears as he pushed the boy in pink further behind him. "JUST FIGHT HIM!"
"I will NOT hurt my brother!" Roman dodged another attack by Remus who tried to punch him. Next thing he knew Roman had Remus's foot in his hands catching it after Remus tried to heel kick him to the face. "Shit, he's a better fighter than I thought he would be."
"RAY!" Roman was forced back as Remus jumped using his free foot to try and kick Roman. It didn't work but it did impress the lighter creativity who was honestly struggling to stay on the defensive. Deceit was struggling against Patton who was holding him back. Remus didn't even seem to notice. "RAY, STOP IT!"
"S-Stop, d-drop, and roll!" Remus giggled as he went to punch Roman only to fake out and spin connecting his elbow into Roman's gut. Roman noticed how Remus's eyes flashed as Roman coughed losing his breath due to the impact. "B-Burn the house d-down..."
"Ray, please... D-don't... RAY!" Deceit was trying but it just wasn't reaching him. Roman hated to see this. His brother was so far gone that the ONE thing that always helped him wasn't working. If Deceit couldn't even pull him out then something was VERY wrong.
"Remus... What was it?" Remus only narrowed his eyes as he front kicked Roman into a wall. "What... What finally made you..." Remus punched Roman cutting him off and making the room spin around him. "Brother..." Roman tried pushing himself up but Remus pressed his foot into his chest coaxing a whimper out of the man lips and preventing him from moving. "Was it... Wait." Roman's eyes snapped open as he realized what it had to have been. "Was it Rose?" Remus summoned his mace finally and Roman's eyes went wide. It was. It was Rose. He must have heard his conversation with Virgil.
"Remus please you have to understand..." Roman was cut off by the handle of the mace being jabbed into his gut causing him to curl into himself only for his face to connect with Remus's foot. "I'M SORRY!" He forced out through coughs as blood began to drip down from his now broken nose. "I... I'm sorry... I don't really know what made you brake but... I'm sorry just... please... Please snap out of it... I... I want my brother back."
"S-Stop..." Roman shakily reached out for Remus with pleading eyes. "S-Stop it..."
"I need my brother back." Roman coughed more cringing against the taste of metal in his mouth and desperately trying to fight against the pain and unending dizziness. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry I'm such an ass. I'm sorry I don't know what to do. I'm sorry I don't know how to fix this. I'm sorry... just please come back!"
"YOU'RE A FUCKING MORON, ROMAN!" Remus screamed out raising his mace into the air and causing Roman to tense up with wide eyes. "J-Just s-stop..."
"But I am sorry... I-I..." Remus growled as he shook his head.
"Stop apologizing... This is all your fault you don't get to apologize!" Everyone tensed up as Remus's voice filled the air. Roman smiled a tiny bit seeing his brother's eyes shining with anger. Even if he was pissed and still holding the mace, it didn't matter. It didn't matter because his brother was coming back. It was better for him to be pissed then blank. "IT'S YOUR FUCKING FAULT! You could have prevented all of this. You could have stopped her. YOU SHOULD HAVE JUST DEFEATED ROSE WHEN YOU HAD THE CHANCE!"
"And risk you attacking me?! I don't fucking think so." Roman's face paled as he slapped his hand over his mouth. He didn't mean to say that. It's just an automatic response at this point.
"Why would I give a shit, Roman? I made them to be YOUR villains!" Roman's eyes went wide in shock as his brother's voice began to break. "You wanted something so desperately to fight and prove you could protect us all from... I-I just wanted to make you happy. I thought i-i could give you w-what you wanted. I made them f-for you... I made them... I..." The mace hit the ground as Remus's eyes darted about the room seeing the mess and Virgil, who was unconscious. "I made her. I made her and... and I..." He glanced behind him to see the terrified Patton clinging to the boys for dear life. Deceit cried silently, staring at him as Remus turned back to Roman to see just how broken his brother really was. "...and I did this." He let go of his mace so suddenly not even bothering to desummon it as he stumbled back. "It's my fault."
"Remus don't..." Roman tried to grab him but Remus just flinched back out of reach.
"It's my fault... I... I'm sorry." Remus took off running right past Patton who practically pushed the kids into the kitchen and away from him as he made his way back to the dark part of the palace, blinded by the tears that refused to stop falling from his eyes.
"REMUS!" Roman struggled to his feet trying to run after his brother but only managed a step before falling to his knees. "Don't... Don't go... don't..." The man fell completely losing his strength as the darkness crept in. "It's not your fault."
