By the time Remus had returned home, he was in tatters. Tears fell steadily from his face masked only by the rain dripping from his hair. He didn't bother using his ability to dry himself off. He didn't care. He slowly made his way inside trying to be as quiet as he could only to spot Patton and the boys in the living room playing Jenga. Three boys this time and by the sound of it someone was in the kitchen. Patton glanced over and Remus tensed up. He still had that look in his eyes and Remus didn't like it one bit. He fucked up and there were no second chances. Those were only given to proper princes and heroes... not villains like him.
"Ray?" Remus's heart lurched at the sound of the boy calling out to him but he didn't look. He didn't turn to see Deceit staring at him. He left. He had to stay away from Deceit. He had to stay away from everyone.
Patton said so.
"Remus..." The darker man remembered it as if it just happened. No amount of time could stop his thoughts from bringing it up all the time. "Remus, I'm afraid I..." The way Patton looked at him with such fear in his eyes. He knew what was going on before Patton even said anything. It was clear by how he shifted about trying to distance himself as if scared Remus would lash out at him. "I am the eldest and I am in charge of keeping everyone safe." Remus didn't say a word. He knew what Patton was getting at. He knew there was no changing is mind. He had fucked up badly this time and there was no ignoring it or fixing it. There would be no happy ending. "I can't have you putting the others at risk, especially with two young boys. I won't have it." Patton's eyes narrowed practically daring Remus to try anything. He didn't. "Stay away from them... Stay away from all of us... Actually..." Remus blinked and Patton was gone leaving only his voice behind. "Just stay away from our side completely."
"Stay away from Deceit." Remus tensed as his head started swimming. He knew it was a very bad idea to do this to himself but he didn't have a choice. "P-Patton..." He whimpered out as the headache started. "Do as you're told, Remus. Don't make it worse."
Roman and Logan were still in the imagination staring up at the storming skies. Roman knew what it meant. The imagination was directly linked to Thomas creativity. Which meant he and Remus both manipulated it. The weather was a good indication of how one of the twins felt. And since Roman wasn't the one crying he couldn't only assume it was Remus.
"Roman, I know you're concerned but the sooner we get this over with..."
"I know Logan. I just... It's raining." Logan frowned as he saw Roman shake slightly.
"Correction it's storming..." That wasn't any better. In fact, it was worse and Logan was aware of that. Even still Roman sighed and shook himself from his thought. "We should get a move on or at least take some sort of cover in the storm."
"Right..." The boys shifted focus if only slightly to look for shelter. They ended up at this cave. It wasn't too intimidating but it was quite large. Roman was confused as to why it would just randomly be there but something clicked when they walked inside. Why would Remus have made such a large cave in the middle of his part of the imagination... simple. This was where the dragon witches had to be. "Logan..."
"I know." The logical one pulled out some flashlights handing one over to the other as they looked around. The place was a mess. The further they walked in it the more the two got a bad feeling about it. There were papers littered about... things destroyed... Everything was is total chaos. Roman could help but start to feel anxious as he gripped the hilt of his sword tightly.
They walked past the mess only to find an archway letting light spill in from whatever room that was. The two shared an anxious look before turning there lights off and walking in. Roman was stunned.
You see Roman was the light creativity. He was the Disney/fantasy guy... the one obsessed with the soft beauty of things. Yet here in Remus's territory was the most beautiful thing he had ever... nope. Scratch that. The second most beautiful thing ever seen. Second... because nothing can compare to Virgil without his make up smiling up at him while wearing Roman's shirt like a dress.
It was like he stepped into a whole other world. Black Onyx statues lined this white and black marble path with thin streams of clear blue water and flowers framing everything. Fireflies danced across the sky making everything look so ethereal but what caught Roman's eyes was the tree.
There in the center of the room was a large crystal tree. Etch marks and runes littered the trunk with a pure white. It's leaf glowed brightly like fairy lights streaming down like waterfalls. Yellow and green blossoms dotted the tree with color giving it a life and making it look alive. A similar statue, this time in pure white marble, sat at the base of the glittering tree. Her face held a beaming smile as her gleaming emerald eyes shined in the lights. Her face was framed perfectly by her bangs, with her hair up in ponytail yet still cascading down her left shoulder is boisterous waves and curls. Roman just stared, hesitantly reaching out and brushing his hand against her cold cheek. The statue held such life even if it was only stone, and Roman couldn't help but feel his throat close upon him.
"Rose..." Roman spun around looking at all the statues and slowly his eyes grew wider. Each and everyone was a Dragon witch. Each and everyone now stood as stone as priceless works of beauty and magic. Each and everyone held a bright loving smile as if the last thing they all saw brought such a joy that nothing ever matter anymore.
"Roman, we need to go." Logan took the creative man's hand snapping him out of his thoughts. His eyes held a look of mourning that didn't come near to matching Roman's. They never really liked the dragon witches but they had been creations of Remus. They felt for the women who were no longer women but stone priestesses caring for a crystal tree. They felt for the man who made them who they were now going to have to break the news too. "There's no point staying here any longer."
