I don't want to dress up, too much, but I damn sure can't dress down. It's not in me. Plus, I don't want to change outfits, between functions. Ugh. This is so annoying. I shouldn't even be going. Zora's ol' happy ass jumped at the opportunity, to go out somewhere, that doesn't involve college kids. We're gonna be leaving Jaydah and Lilah behind. I'll be leaving Devin behind. I haven't even told him about Marcus. I mean, technically, I don't have to. He's not my boyfriend but I'd wanna know, if he was ditching a college party, for some other female. FML.
I eye myself, in the mirror. I'm wearing a hunter green, mid-thigh, halter top dress. I paired it with some gold heels and a small gold purse, with a long and skinny strap. I feel so over dressed, for this college party. My girls said they're going to be just as dressy, so me and Zora don't feel crazy. I love them so much. "We a bad ass group of friends," Zora says, as she walks in, with Jaydah and Lilah. Zora's wearing a red, fitted satin dress ,with one inch strips of lace, on each side, showing some skin and nude strappy heels. Jaydah's wearing a black long sleeve button up, crop top, that ties in front, a black fitted mini skirt, with a cut out strip, with zig zag strings, on each side, also showing some skin. Her lipstick is red, to go with her red heels. Lilah is wearing a blush pink velvet tube top with matching fitted pants and gold heels. "We really are," Jaydah says, as she flips her long and curly ponytail. What would I do without them?
Zora loves being in control of when she leaves a function, so she always drives. She never drinks too much, because she knows that he has to drive back. I ride with her, while Jaydah and Lilah ride together. It's only about 10:30 and the party probably won't be popping, until around 11:30 but we got places to be. Marcus told us that they would be at Boogalou. It's a lounge/restaurant. I've always wanted to go, just for the swinging bar seats. Sad but true. I also heard that women be getting hella drinks bought, for them. I'm sure Marcus will be taking care of that, tonight.
We pull up, to the event building that our school always has parties at. It's the biggest one nearby. "Damn, everybody already here. They just couldn't wait to see who they go to school with huh?" Jaydah says. "Right. What the hell? Now all eyes are definitely going to be on us." Lilah says. "Ain't no problem with that," Zora says. "Plus JB letting us in free." JB is the most known party promoter, on campus. We all been cool with him, since freshman year. "I like free." I shout out. We find a parking spot, unfortunately in the back, and down our drinks. I need just a little buzz, to get past this situation. Bitches gone be hating. Period.
We all get out of the car and make sure our hair and outfits are still on point. I'm still wearing my hair, in its curly state. I didn't go for the wet look, so it's more poofy and more natural looking. I love it. We head for the door, as JB walks out. I assume he's meeting us, to make sure we get in, with no problems. The stares begin and surprisingly, I like it. I smirk a little. "Damnnnn, where y'all going?" JB asks, as he gives us all hugs. "Come on JB, you already know how we are." I say, with a devious smile. "Sheesh. Remind me to get a dance with you, Charity." He smiles back, just as deviously. Sometimes I forget that he has a crush on me. "I got you." I say, before walking in. I'm actually hoping that we don't run into each other. Devin would not be pleased, to see me dancing, with someone else.
Devin, Dayquan and Jeremy finds us, rather quickly. You can literally see the people whispering, about us. "Damn, can we get our face back?" Zora asks, rather loudly. Warren walks up, behind her. "Calm down, girl. Y'all came in here looking like goddesses. You should be happy they hating." He makes her smile. I'm surprised he's here but then again, he'd make that drive for her, every day. We all head to the bar, for drinks. I'm sure I don't need another one, this soon but I can't pass up a free drink. The guys buy us drinks and we mingle a little. I watch as everybody else people watch and judge. The real dancing probably won't happen until after we leave. Speaking of leaving, I need to figure out how we're going to get away from Devin and Warren. At some point, they gotta leave our sides. At the end of the day, we're all single.
We all dance with each other, for about an hour or so. "I'ma go check my on my boy, real quick," Devin says. Fortunately, Warren tags along. Zora and I look at each other and get ready to make our move. "Let me know, when y'all get there and when y'all get home. I'm sure y'all not gonna wanna eat with us college folk, after going out with the grown folks." Jaydah says. This girl is hilarious. "Girl, shut up." Zora laughs. We hug them and say our good byes. Dayquan and Jeremy just mind their business. I like them, for that. As we head out, we breeze past a talking JB and head for the car. "Y'all leaving already?" One male security guard asks. "Yea we got places to be," Zora says. "Oh, see I knew y'all wasn't dressed up, just for this shit." We all laugh. "I'm glad you know." I say, before getting too far away, to keep talking to him.

We get to Boogalou and Marcus meets us outside. "You look amazing, Charity," he says eyeing my entire body. "Thank you. You don't look too bad, yourself." I answer. He's wearing a tan plaid shirt, greyish jeans and all white forces. He got his Gucci shades on, to match. Damn he looks good, in something so simple. "I'm Marcus." He shakes Zora's hand. "Zora," she replies. He pays our cover charge and lead us inside. It's way more lit in here, than that school party. He walks us to a booth, where 3 other guys are sitting. "This is Jaquin, Ahmad, and the birthday boy, Terrance." Marcus points to his boys. Damn, I thought he was fine but so are his boys. I sound like a complete hoe, in my head. I've just never seen an entire group of fine ass men. Then again, all the people I know are around 22 years old. Marcus and his boys are in their late 20's. Terrance just turned 27, according to the number 27 cake, on the table. "Guys, this is Charity and Zora." We say our hi's and take a seat.
"You really be stepping out, huh?" Marcus asks me. He's leaned super close because the music is so loud. "Every time." I answer. "Mmm." He smiles at me, while he sips his drink. His caramel skin tone, glistens, from how hot it is in here. It's sexy as hell. "Let me pour you a drink. I got moscato, just for y'all." "How you know we don't like Henny?" Zora asks. "Baby, you can have whatever you like." Terrance says. We all laugh. I can tell he's feeling Zora and I know she feels the same. He's fine. "Oh word?" She laughs. We both still end up picking the moscato, forgetting that we've already had hard liquor, for the night. I'll just pace myself. I dance along to the music and I'm feeling myself and these drinks. "Let me find out you can dance." Marcus eyes me. "What Caribbean doesn't know how to dance?" I shoot back. The drinks in me, made me stand up and start whining, to the song. "You are dangerous, girl." Marcus shakes his head. Zora joins me and the men just watch. I feel like an animal, in a cage. I laugh it off and sit back down. "I see you, Charity." Marcus whispers in my ear. "You play like you're all sweet and innocent but I know you got a lil' freak in you." "I guess you'll never find out." I whisper back. "Don't tempt me."
