We finish skating and moved on to bowling. I've been slightly limping, since I fell. "You sure you don't want to get that checked out?" Marcus asks with much concern. "I don't really like doctors." I say, honestly. "Charity." "Marcus." Teyana secretly watches our encounter, while everyone else is too entertained. "Let me take you home. You shouldn't drive on that ankle. It looks swollen. I hate that he's right. I'd ask Teyana, so it doesn't look bad, to everyone else but her boyfriend dropped her off. I don't want Romar, James or Malika, to know where I live. I don't like them that much. I also don't see Marcus taking "no" for an answer. "Yea fine." I give in.

"I'm gonna take her home and maybe the hospital." Marcus announces. "Just drive to the hospital. It's not like she can stop you, while driving." Romar jokes. "Romar, shut up. Marcus, please take me home. If I need to go, later, I'll have a friend take me." Marcus shakes his head. I say my goodbyes and hug Teyana. "Don't do anything I wouldn't do." She whispers, in my ear. I glare at her, like she's lost her mind. "I'm just saying," she says, under her breath. Marcus escorts me outside. "Where's your car?" Marcus asks. "Way in the back. I didn't search long, for a spot." Now, I gotta walk far as hell, with a bruised ankle. In one swift move, Marcus lifts me and carries me, bridal style. I don't even have words. Neither of us speak. We even drive to my dorm, in silence. It's so much tension, in the car.

We get to my dorm and he helps me walk to the door. "Do you have ice or something frozen?" Marcus asks, breaking the silence. "Um...I think so. I might have some frozen broccoli." I answer, as he unlocks the door. He looks at me, like he's seen a ghost. "You eat frozen broccoli? Why?" I laugh at his concern but then I remember seeing him pick up fresh broccoli, at Walmart. "It's cheaper and it's frozen. I can save it for weeks." He shakes his head and brings me inside. He sits me on the couch and heads for the kitchen. He continues to shake his head, while grabbing the broccoli. "Just bring the damn Broccoli, Marcus." I laugh. "Ol dramatic ass." He flashes a beautiful smile and sits next to me.

He brings my legs straight across his lap. He places the bag on my ankle and it startles me. It's the coldest thing, in this room because right now, I am hot. Marcus being so sweet to me and this close, has my mind doing wonders. We're silent again. "Your skin is so beautiful." He admires my feet. I shyly pull my feet away and place them on the floor. "Thank you." I blush. He pulls my feet back up and smile. "Stop worrying, Charity. Let me take care of you."

Marcus massages my feet, for about an hour. At first, I was hesitant but it was something I didn't know I needed. I blocked out all doubtful thoughts, as we made conversation. I actually got to know him a little better. "So, when you said you were following in your dad's footsteps, you meant you wanted to trample over him?"I ask, dying with laughter. "Man, all my life, he's been tryna teach me how to be a man." He air quotes. "I wanna show him how much of a man I can be. You know our ratings went up, from 4.7 to 4.8? We are literally so close." "Wow. Are we that good?" "We got a good team, Charity. Everyone is goal oriented and we're working on raises. We are sure, to continue great work." "Raises? Okay, I need a smooth $15/hour." I laugh. $13 isn't enough. "I got you." He smiles. "Just don't tell nobody."
