Song: Lullaby by Fall out boy

Tw: Food mention(Tell me if I should add any). They're just having some bro time

They had been texting about it for a while. Virgil asked Remy for make up tips and Roman asked Patton for the coziest place in town. One of them hoped it counted as a date the other was just exited about hanging out with his friend.

At 1 am on Friday they meet up in the middle of the hall between their rooms. The anxious boy had black lipstick and dark eyeshadow on and the prince like guy wore his red sorority jacket with a white T-shirt under. Also he had officially added another reason why he should win the idiot award of 2019 because he was wearing shorts (and long socks) even though it was fall.

Quiet like mouse who had been trained in the art of undercover spy-ness they jumped out the broken window Remus had told Roman about a while back. They were planning to drive into town just the two of them. They were tired of the school grounds and the other's were probably busy with sleep anyway why even bother asking them. It totally wasn't because they wanted to be alone together.

As they rounded up at an old blue beetle car with an unknown owner Virgil started overthinking about being caught "How will we even get the car going?" He asked while fiddling with his thumbs.

"Logan teached me how to jump start a car"

"LOGAN?"

As he opened the car door for his friend like a true gentleman Roman answered "Has no one told you he was in a gang"

"A GANG" The taller guy sat behind the driving wheel and as the car started a grin formed on his face "Do you even know how to drive?" The anxious boy continued on with being continuously anxious, what a surprise.

"Nope" And with that they were off into the night. Virgil yelled about how he would die and come back to haunt his ass.

Outside a 7/11 they stopped. "You drive worse than my aunt Patty" He grunted as they got hit by the cold ac inside the store. The brightness from the cold neon lights only made the dark cloud filled night seem even moodier.

"Does she have a driving license?" Ro asked thinking that it could be a compliment. He picked up a can of Coca Cola zero.

"Nope" A can of pumpkin flavored halloween themed soda and a bag of gummy bears found its way into Virge's hands "It's low cal" He triumphantly shoke the bag as if to ask if the other could eat it to which he shrugged not even realizing he was touching his collar bones.

When they stepped out of the shop it was officially that weird time of night where tiredness starts seeping in aka 2 am aka the witching hour. It felt like the world wasn't fully loaded yet as deep shadows hid what nature held outside of around 20 meters around them. Everything felt less real at night the air somehow smelled different than it did during the day and aside from the occasional wind rustle or animal noise their talking seemed to be the only noise on the entire planet in that moment. Actually it felt like they were the only people alive. It was weirdly calming.

They continued driving. On the radio 'when you were young' by The Killers played and they sang along.

We're burning down the highway skyline

On the back of a hurricane that started turning

When you were young

As the guitar outro played they stopped near a cliff. This was the place Patton had told him about. Apparently he and Dee sometimes had picnics here.

A quite popular trope in 80's and 90's movies was having a place next to a cliff where the cool teenagers drives to and spends the night at. For example  there was one in the movie 'Pleasantville' and this was basically one of those places. Aside from the old town road and the lone car the only things in sight were trees, bushes and few and far between lights glimmering from the town far far away down at the end of the cliff.
