Song: Green by Cavetown

Tw: Eating disorder, Bad parenting, talk about death, weight mention

The days after the disappearance Roman's parents came to the school and yelled at principal Sanders for letting their child run away. They didn't even give Roman time to say goodbye before he was abruptly written out of the school system and taken back to their house.

The house laid a bit outside the suburban part of the upper class town he had grown up in. When he was younger they lived in the suburbs and he and his brother shared a room. When they moved 2 years before he went to the school some time after he started his disordered eating they got their own room. They thought it would be fun but it just got hard to sleep. Most mornings he woke up with Rem sleeping at the foot of his bed.

He hadn't gone into the missing twin's room since he had found him unconscious and coughing up blood in there (Kiddos Don't overdose, it's painful, it doesn't work and you'll spend the rest of the night throwing up like 20 times over and over until literal fucking stomach acid is the only thing coming up. You can get it now for free for the low low prize of zero-hope-for-the-future : D). Not even while he was in rehab. Now it was the first room he ran to when he got home.

It was filled with bugs captured in mugs, piles of trash he had seen as beautiful or useful and dead plants. The dark green walls were dirty from charcoal stains and weird marks left from everything from spaghetti to blood. Since he once tried to burn down his bed the only sleeping space was a mattress. Under the mattress were all his drawings hidden so no one destroyed them. The cleaner that came once a week had once tried to clean the room but Remus jumped out from one of the trash piles and yelled that he would stab her.

The rest of the house was so big and empty and lonely to be in. This room was cluttered and messy and it felt more like the dorm. It felt more like home.

As Roman sat on the mattress hugging his knees memories he had hidden away returned. Like the time his parents had found his twin's drawings of gore and trashed them even as Remus cried out for them not to. Or when Roman had searched through his room after his stolen clothes and found pills. He got so worried he emptied the bottle out the window. Or the time he had woken up late at night by them arguing and a door slamming. Rem didn't come home for 2 weeks. He was hoping it would be the same now.

"Do not listen to him roman. Those are not things a normal person says"

"You won't be as much of a headache as he is. You'll be a good son alright"

"Don't say anything but you're my favorite son. You're always so happy. You're much easier"

Thinking back on things his parents had told him Roman felt for just a moment that it was wrong. That maybe he should have done something. Maybe then Remus wouldn't be afraid to come home. But he shook his head, it was so hard thinking any of it was wrong when he'd told hi entire life it was right.

You looked so good in green

His mother knocked gently on the door asking what he was doing. He passed her by without answering before walking into his room and slamming the door shut. The sound echoed through his room and at first he was afraid of someone getting mad at him for doing so. Then the fear disappeared leaving a vacant hole of nothing in his chest.

I hope you're well

He looked around his room. At the big comfy bed with red covers. The many posters lining the walls. The drawers with golden details on them. The few poems and art he had been proud off and then hung up.

And you looked so good with him

Then he slowly sunk down to the ground, his back still against the wall. He pushed his knees up to his chest and hid his face in his hands. He frowned as a wave of anger washed over him, whether he was angry at himself or of someone else he was unsure of.
