The concert was amazing. The boys sang so good. You smiled every time it was Nathan's part. Occasionally, he would sneak a look or two at you and wink. That made your heart stop.
After the performance, Nathan took you home. It was so lonely in there. You sighed. Nathan looked at you.
"What's wrong?" He asks.
"Nothing. It's just something on my mind." You say.
"What is it?" He asks, coming closer.
"Penny. Alex. The thre-" You stopped yourself before you said threat.
"The what?" Nath asked, eyebrows bent in concern. He stepped closer.
"Nothing. It's nothing."
"Tell me, Y/N. Please."
"Okay." You say, taking a deep breath. Should I tell him? You wonder. Yes. He would understand. "Penny threatened that something bad will happen to me if I don't stay away from Alex."
Nathan's body tenses. He stares straight ahead. He has that faraway look in his eyes. It might've been your imagination, but it looked like his eyes started to tear up. What was he thinking about?
"Are you alright?" You ask.
"Yeah. Yeah. I'm fine." He said. He doesn't seem fine.
Then your phone rang.
"Hello?" You answer. Nath takes another step closer. He was about arm's length now.
"Y/N?" Someone said. It was Alex.
"What?"
"Did you really go to that concert tonight?"
"Yeah. Why wouldn't I? It was free." Nathan smiled a little.
"Again? I'm getting so sick of this."
"Of what?"
"Your lies!"
"They aren't lies. Why would you ever think I'd lie to you?" You ask. Nathan came closer.
"I don't know! You've changed though. A lot. Did you really expect me to believe that Nathan Sykes, the celebrity, asked you out?"
Nathan gestured for you to hand him the phone. He looked different. Angry. You hand him the phone, wondering what he might say.
"Alex?"
"Yeah. Who is this?" She asks, confused.
"Nathan.."
"Nathan what?"
"Sykes." You held your breath.
"Sure." You could tell she was rolling her eyes just by the tone of her voice.
"It's ture."
"Prove it."
He did. He started singing. Right there, on the phone.
"What?......" She was speechless.
"It's really me. And Y/N is really my girlfriend." He looked at you when he said "girlfriend". You smile.
Alex was still speechless. Nath handed the phone back to you.
"Now do you believe me?" You ask.
"I'm so sorry. I've been such a jerk."
"You've got that right." You mumble.
"Forgive me?" She asks. You look at Nathan for support. He thinks for a minute, then nods. He mouths the words Save the drama. Then he laughs.
"Yeah." You say.
"Thank you! Again, I'm so sorry." You could tell she meant it. It sounds way too soon, but Alex moves things along fast and can't stand it when people are mad at her.
"It's okay. Really." You say.
Alex has to go so you say your good-byes and hang up. You look at Nathan. He is still really close. He smiles, and you smile back. He leans in to kiss you. You lean in, too.
Then, your phone rings. You guys pull apart and laugh. You look at the caller I.D. Unknown. You answer it.
"Hello?"
"Y/N." The person on the other end says cruelly. Penny.
