You decide to go to the park alone and just think. When you got there, you took the trail through the woods. It's always been your favorite. There is a bridge that crosses the creek and a look-out point.
As you start walking the trail, your phone rings. You look at it. Nathan's calling.
"Hello?" You answer.
"Hey." He said.
"What's up?" You ask, trying to sound casual and not like you want to scream from excitement. This is the first thing good that's happened today.
"Nothing. Just felt like talking to you." He says. You smile.
"And you are." You say.
He laughs. "Yeah, I guess I am. Hey, I'll be back in your town tomorrow night to record some songs downtown. Maybe you'd want to go to a movie when I'm done?"
You don't know what to say. He just asked you out! You can't believe it. You smile even wider. "Sure." You say.
"How about 7?" He asks.
"Sounds great." You say. You guys hang up since his break was over. You were suddenly so excited and forgot about everything else that has happened today.
Then a thought struck you: you have nothing good to wear. Just ripped jeans and some T-shirts. You haven't shopped much lately. You look to see how much money you have. You've already spent most of your paycheck from working at the dog grooming place, but you still had one hundred dollars left.
You decide to go to the mall and buy something nice. Running to your car, you get out your keys, eager for tomorrow. You turn on the radio and Glad You Came was just beginning.
At the mall you go to your favorite store to buy clothes. Inside, you look around. After about fifteen minutes you find this really cute shirt that you loved. You went to the dressing room to try it on and it fit. Perfectly. Next you found some jeans to match and also got some bracelets. You didn't have to buy shoes, you already had a pair that would look good with your outfit.
Back at home, you washed the clothes and wondered if you should curl your hair or not. You picked up your phone to call Alex but hesitated, remembering Penny's threat. You shrug it off. This is important enough to tell Alex, you think.
"Hello?" She answers.
"He asked me out!" You say excitedly.
"Who?" She asks, puzzled.
"HE did!"
"Alex? Who are you talking to?" You hear Penny say in the background. "Just Y/N." She says back. Penny didn't say anything but you know that she was upset about that.
"Stop lying. I know the number was just a prank and you're following along to fool everyone, Y/N."
"I'm not lying!" You protest.
"Whatever. I have to go. Me and Penny are going to that new skating rink on the other side of town." She hung up without saying bye.
What has gotten into her? Alex always believed you, no matter how far-fetched something sounded. Because it was always true, you'd never lie to her. Why did she think you would start now?
You did nothing for the rest of the day but watch tv since it started raining. You sigh. The house is always lonely without anyone but you inside.
At about 10 PM, you go to bed. It took a long time to fall asleep but you eventually did. You kept waking up every so often. You tossed and turned all night, anxious for the next night to come.
Finally it was morning. You go out to eat breakfast at your favorite restaurant. You take your laptop with you to play games since there was really nothing else to do. Ever since Alex has been 'best friends' with Penny, she hasn't really hung out with you much.
What does Penny even have against you? You never did anything to her. She just....hate you for no reason. "She has to have a reason" Alex has said recently. Lately she just doesn't understand you like she usually does.
Two hours before your date with Nath you started getting ready. You got dressed. You concluded that you will curl your hair. Before you did that you put on some make-up. You used a good combination of eye shadow that really brings out your eyes. You constantly get compliments on how pretty they are. After that you put on some lip gloss and then did your hair. By the time you were done it was half an hour until seven.
Your phone rang. Nathan again.
"Hello?" You answer.
"Hey! You ready?" He asked. He seemed a little too excited. You laughed.
"Yeah."
"Good." He laughs. "I'll come pick you up. What's your address?" He asks. You tell him and he thanks you and you guys hang up.
The excitement turned into nervousness. There was a knock on your door. You open it. Nathan is standing there, smiling.
"Hey." He says.
"Hey" You say. You get even more nervous.
He must've known because he said, "Don't be nervous." He smiled. He took your hand and led you to the car. You smile. He opens the passenger seat door and closes it gently when you get in. You put on your seat belt and he gets in.
On the way to the movies he says, "You look beautiful tonight, Y/N."
You smile. "Thanks" You say. "You look really good, too." You respond. He did. He was wearing a black shirt with a dragon design and a dog tag necklace. He had on some really good smelling cologne on, you realize. He looks even better in person, you think.
When you guys get there, you ask what movie you are watching. "Anyone you want." He says, smiling. You decide on the new horror movie. When you get into the theater room, you find good seats. Surprisingly, there aren't any girls crowding around him. He must've known what you were thinking because he said, "Nobody but the lads know where I am. You have me all to yourself" He grinned.
