Jay took you to that new club in town. It supposedly played the best music and served the best food and drinks. When you guys got there and went in, you gasped. The place was HUGE! There was a bunch of people there and it wasn't even four o'clock yet. Jay just laughed. He's used to big crowds, you think.
You lead him to the dance floor and start dancing. One of your favorite songs was playing and Jay laughed.
"Dance! For me?" You asked, smiling, trying to get him to dance with you.
"Fine." He said. You were a pretty good dancer so you tried to help Jay out. He failed miserably, but it was hilarious. After about half an hour of torture for him, he takes you over to the bar and ordered two beers.
"I don't drink much." You warn him. He just laughed and grinned.
You took the drink anyway but just sipped it, not feeling like getting drunk right then.
"By the looks of you, you wouldn't guess what you've been through." He told you.
"Thanks." You said. He looked at you sadly and studied your face. "What?" You ask.
"Nothing." He said. You didn't feel like being too pushy so you just let it drop. Plus, you didn't want to talk about Nathan. Just thinking about him would make you burst into tears.
"Let's dance some more." You suggest. Jay just groaned but followed you, his beer still in his hand. You just set yours at the table you guys picked out. A new song was coming on and you immediately looked at Jay, a big smile spreading across your face, eyes wide. He listened for a second, smiled real big, too and laughed. It was Glad You Came, the boy's hit song.
You and Jay danced around, singing the lyrics loudly to each other and doubling over from laughing too hard. Jay kept making funny faces and motions when he sang. You felt a sharp pain In your heart when Nathan's parts came on, which you knew very well, but tried to keep from bothering you. Jay would look at you, a little worried, but you would give him a reassuring smile. You were having so much fun other than that.
Halfway through the next song Jay's cell phone buzzed. "Hello?" He screamed over the noise. "Yeah.......Uh.....Yeah......I don't think that's such a good idea right now, lad......Call me later? It's hard to hear.......No, I'm not drunk! Well, yet........Bye." Is what you heard before he hang up.
"Who was that?" You asked.
He hesitated. "Nathan." He said. There was a pause.
"What'd he want?" You ask.
"He wanted to know if I knew where you were ,I said yeah, he asked if you would probably talk to him, and then we hang up since it was hard to hear."
"Oh......"
"He sounded really upset, just putting that out there." He said. You sighed.
"I know......I'll talk to him later, okay?"
"Okay."
"Now c'mon! I'm not done yet!" You pull him back on the dance floor as he laughs. The next hour or two, you couldn't keep your mind off of Nathan. You somehow managed not to cry, surprisingly.
"Can I see your phone real quick?" You ask Jay when you finally take a break.
"Sure." He said and handed it to you. You were shocked that he still had it and haven't lost it since you've met him. You thanked him and went into the bathroom. There the noise wasn't so loud.
