I made an executive decision to give my former students a chance to really get to know me. After this crazy semester, I know they had questions and concerns. I'd rather them hear from the horse's mouth than to make up shit. 10 of my students agreed to meet up, including Serenity. I went ahead and bought them small Christmas gifts. Just little care packages. My phone rings and I readily pick up. "Serenity." I answer. "Hey, I'm outside." She says. She's here to help me finish putting them together. I open the door and smile way too hard. She has on a nice maroon sweater, jeans and Uggs. I don't care what she wears, she always looks good in it. "It smells good in here." She says, as she walks in. I had lit some candles and lit the fireplace. "Thanks, it helps me relax or get things done."
We finish the packages, around 12:30, just in time, to head out. "I guess we should go in separate cars." Serenity says. "Yeaaaa I don't think we want to add to the questions we already have." I laugh. She pulls me in, for only our second kiss ever. She smiles and walks to her car. I don't even know what any of this means? Are we going to start dating or we just gone play? Either way, I know what I want.
I get to the park, where we all agreed to meet. I purposely waited until I saw everyone, before getting out of my car. "Can we call you Trey now?" Mariah asks, already starting shit. "Haha. I guess you can." I laugh. "I'm not teaching anymore." "Why exactly is that?" A boy, who was cool with Taj, asks. Serenity slightly rolls her eyes. "To be honest, there was people hating from the jump." I start. "They didn't want me to succeed, for their own personal reason. To top it off, the people who work in the admin office were scammers." "Man I heard about that!" Jamiah says. She's been quiet all semester. "What did you hear exactly?" I ask. "I heard you and the board had a deal to get money off new students." Wow. How the hell did people put me in that? "If that was the case, I'd still be teaching. Some of the board members and a few counselors were the ones scamming by using my name, to pull rank. They also had me sign a contract that gave them rights to any future performances or appearances while teaching. They were about to wring me dry." Everyone just stood in shock.
"So where did Serenity come in?" Mariah asks. Serenity almost snaps her neck, looking toward her. "I'm sure we all wanna know." They all agree. "Taj was a jealous ass nigga that was stupid enough to think that I'd cheat on him, after everything we been through." Serenity blurts out. "But did you?" Taj's friend asks. "Mario you know damn well I didn't. He admitted to it." Serenity yells. "I just don't see what the hell happened. Why he start acting like that?" Mario says. "He made a deal with the devil." I butt in. "Him, my ex, Mrs. Charm and her husband conspired against me." "Didn't she kill herself?" Jamiah asks. "Yea...she did." I say, sadly. "Why kill herself if she was planning on scamming you?" "She didn't realize her husband was the one who set her up with my ex and Taj. She found out some other things about their marriage and I guess she just couldn't take it." I pause. "I never thought I'd see anything like that."
"Damn so you was messing with her, too?" Mario asks. This nigga. "Not too. Serenity had nothing to do with it. And I only went to Mrs. Charm's house, to find out what was going on. The police got involved, once they found out who her husband was. She didn't even know what kind of man she married." "Damn, that's sad." Mariah says. I agree. This whole situation sounds like a damn movie and I'm the leading role. I definitely didn't get my happy ending.

Christmas Day comes around and I couldn't be happier. I got away from Georgia and came to Virginia. I'm big on family so holidays must be spent with them. "Hey Mumma." I kiss my mom on the cheek. "Hey, baby." She says and hugs me for a long time. Lord knows I need it. When she lets go, I find my grandma awaiting her hug. "Mama Rose." I hug her tightly. I've been missing them. I've been needing them. They're the only ones that can make my life stay together. I'd love to add Serenity in the mix but lately, we've just been chilling. No kissing or touching, just chilling. I don't mind though. For her, I'd wait forever.Mumma and a few aunts made so much breakfast, I know I'll be eating seconds. As soon as I sit down, at the table, everyone had questions. I really don't want to discuss this mess, with them, but I'd rather they not assume either, like my students. "I knew from Day 1, it would be some mess." Ru says, making us laugh and lightening the mood. "Yea but my baby is determined." Mumma says. "But I'm your baby." Ru says, putting down his fork. We all laugh again. This is exactly what I needed.
After breakfast, we opened gifts. My entire family shows out, when it comes to Christmas. It doesn't even have to be expensive gifts. They just know exactly what you want and need. My mom always says she doesn't want anything but for both of her boys to be home but we can never let that be all. Instead, Ru and I got her a Range Rover. As we lead her outside, she fusses at us for disobeying her, but when she opens her eyes, it all fades away. "Oh my babies." She holds her hands, over her mouth. "Oh my babies" is all she could say.
Mid day comes around and I decide to check on Serenity. Merry Christmas. I hope you got everything you wanted. I texted her. Within seconds, she responds. Not everything. Believe me when I say, I understand. I'd love for her to be here with my family but I know that could never be. She's really too young for me and with all of the controversy, we'd get so much backlash. What are you missing? I text back. You. She texts back. I lose control of my smile. What I say next could determine our fate. You got me. I simply say. She replies asking for me to FaceTime her.
I step into a guest room and close the door, to call. "Hey." She smiles, as she answers. "Hey." I reply. "I don't know if we could be more than friends but I know I'd be a lot happier, if I was spending the holiday with you." She says. Her words are so shocking, I ignore all of the noise in both of our backgrounds. "I was thinking the same thing. My mom would love you." "My dad would love you. He's always been a fan of your music, but not your lifestyle. Once I explained how nice you've been, about this whole ordeal, he changed his mind. He knows how I feel about you." "And what exactly do you feel?" I smirk. "I don't want nobody else but you." She songs my song. We both crack up laughing. I don't know what's truly ahead but I'm definitely willing to make it work.
