I walk into the hospital room surprised to see Kira sitting next to the bed. Bryce smiles when he sees me. After hearing about him being shot, Kira came here with her daughter immediately. She and Bryce are close, I'm fond of the bond they have—especially with his niece, Selena.

"Oh, I guess it's time for me to leave now," she wiggles her brows, making us laugh.

"I'll see you later," she tells Bryce and greets me with a hug me before she walks out.

"How did it go?" he asks.

"You didn't watch?"

"No, I know how much you didn't want to do that. So, I decided not to watch," he answers as he continues to pack his belongings.

He's been in the hospital for two weeks since the mission. His wound wasn't as bad as it looked and he healed quick. The doctors are releasing him today.

My allies have already returned home to their packs, including the Dainewulfs. Bryce will be leaving tomorrow and the thought saddens me. I don't want him to leave so soon.

"Good," I reply. "I hate making formal announcements."

"How are things going over with the Barbarics?" he asks.

"The polls closed a few hours ago and the majority wants to stay under our protection."

When Kryllen died, the Barbarics were left without a leader. If this were the old days, the Barbarics would've had no choice but to become Blue Valia.

We learned why Kryllen was willing to go to the lengths of war to get Adarian back in his filthy hands. He was sick, and very much dying. It explains why he was eager to offer Darius an official position but also odd and desperate. That would've been a stain in the Kryllen's reign. It still makes me question why he shot Adarian if that was the case. I assumed it was fear.

Many of the Barbaric members requested to join our pack so I decided to have them vote before they decided to make their own leaders. That would cause nothing but an uprising. It'd also be wronging a rightful heir...

After everything boiled down, I had the chance to finally meet Adarian's parents, Jodi and Peter. I told them about the exchange between he and Kryllen before he killed him and that's when I learned the shocking truth.

Jodi and Peter Reese are not Adarian's biological parents. How sick I was when they revealed that Tad Kryllen was Adarian's biological father.

Jodi and Peter explained how Tad killed his mate, Jane, who was Jodi's twin sister.

Unsurprisingly, Tad was extremely abusive to Jane. After they mated, she hardly saw her family, friends, or the light of freaking day. He kept her locked up in their home like a hostage. No one, but Jane's family, knew about her pregnancy.

One night, while pregnant with Adarian, Jane made the fatal mistake of trying to defend herself and her child. She tried to leave Tad, scared that he would become abusive to their son too.

He beat her badly that night, hitting her so hard once to where she fell and suffered a fatal injury to her head. Tad took her to medical where they had to cut Adarian out of her before her death affected him.

The motherfucker only did that much so he wouldn't lose his heir.

It took days for him to notify Jane's family of her death. When he finally did, it was only to drop Adarian off at Jodi and Peter's doorstep. When he brought him, he simply told them "I don't want to look at him anymore. I'll be back for him when it's time for him to train."
