Jane nodded slightly when she saw the interior of Arima's apartment, it was a clear representation of himself. Grey took over her senses and invaded her mind until she only saw his silver orbs in every crevice of each room. Yet, in one space to another there was a splash of colour; whether it be red or blue it didn't matter.
"Cozy" Jane smiled before watching Arima take off his shoes at the entrance and dropping his car and house keys into a ceramic bowl.
Like the investigator, she aligned her shoes neatly beside his and followed further inside to watch the man prepare dinner.
"Is it just you here?" She proceeded to ask once she saw the cat bowl on the terrace outside.
"Just me",
"What's with the pet dish then?" She asked to watch his grey orbs flicker to the window.
"A stray cat seems to come by every now and then so I just thought leaving him a bit of food wouldn't harm anyone".
At his innocent confession, Arima was replied with a fit of giggles that tickled the teen's stomach.
"Got a name for him?",
The investigator sighed, "it's best not get attached to things that constantly disappear".
"Well then-" Jane huffed as she fell into the sofa, "- I'll just have to name them then".
Arima sighed deeply, she was still a child after all, it's not like she knew any better. Plus, he reasoned it was the least he could do after his incompetence left her father to die.
"What colour is he?" She asked first, warning Arima she may pick a generic name like snowball or something.
"Grey and white" he exhaled as he continued to prepare the food.
"Okay, what about... Mr grey?",
The investigator internally rolled his eyes, how original.
"So not mister, what about Doctor Grey?",
Arima subtly shook his head.
"Christian Grey?" She almost chuckled. He didn't understand the joke but she continued to spout names until she finally came to a pleasing stop.
"Oh! I've got it!-" the teen cheered as she jumped on the sofa, her legs stuffed under her thighs while she smiled widely.
"- we'll dub the cat Kemuri"."Smoke?" Arima questioned.
"Smoke's grey isn't it?".
She has a point, he reasoned.
"I think it has a nice ring to it though, don't you?" Jane grinned before the investigator finally placed down dinner.
She didn't receive any approval but she knew he must've been tired, after everything that had happened she could understand. Therefore, as they ate their meal she had the common cutesy to remain silent as Arima divulged in his break from the CCG. However, he appeared like the investigator who brought work home.
Later that night, Jane was sure her assumption was correct once she walked past his small office to his bedroom to receive clothing. Stacks of yellow files plagued the desk and the room was still awake from the last use.
"Don't you ever rest?" Jane questioned to suddenly have an oversized shirt dropped into her arms and a pair of boxers.
"I rest when it's needed",
"Well, adults need at least seven to eight hours of sleep",
"four is enough",
"For robots" she scoffed before being escorted to the bathroom.
"Feel free to use the shower, the fridge isn't full so if you're hungry there's a twenty-four hour store on the corner, money's on the counter", and with the quick, monotone announcement Arima left the student to her own devices while he disappeared into his cramped office.
Awkwardly, Jane peeled off her clothes before stepping into the shower. Along the tiled wall was a black-blue razor, shampoo and soap that filled the room with a masculine musk. With it being the only stuff around Jane had to trade in her coconut and vanilla shower gel for Arima's alternative. While she lathered the soap, she ran her hands quickly over her body and tried to finish as soon as possible.
The shower of water filled her ears and drowned Jane under a sheen of comfort. Arima was the only platonic relationship she had where they truly understood what she was going through. The teen knew Uta was trying to be there for her and indeed, she did enjoy every touch and kiss yet something felt off as he caressed every curve of her body.
Maybe she liked him too much.
"Are you okay?" Arima suddenly called through the door, jogging Jane from thought.
"Y-Yeah, I'm fine!" She reassured before listening to his feet patter against the polished wood.
Yes, she liked him far too much.

School hasn't just come with work but new relationships; good and bad.
Hopefully everything will settle itself in my life but until then, here's the next question.
What is your favourite manga?
Mine's Apocalypse no Toride.
