4. What are you hiding, Mr. Bane?

*At the Institute*

*Magnus's POV*

Shadowhunters were running around like a herd of sheep, chattering in panic, and Magnus gritted his teeth as soon as his eyes fell on the red alert status in the center of the hall. A ball of energy could be seen running in the graphic 3D model of the forest, and his blood boiled. 'By the Lilith, Lexi! You need a hell lot of training.'

Wandering his gaze, he noticed Alec talking with someone, and he approached in their direction.

"Magnus! Thank you for coming." Alec said when their eyes met.

"No worries! What happened?"

"It's the Alemon. We noticed some weird energy patterns spreading towards Idris, since it's new and different, we figured it was the Alemon. We need to rush there before it crosses the wards."

"And since you are the one who told Alec about it, we figured you could help us in stopping it." Jace said, interrupting them.

Magnus saw a blonde man walking towards them, his eyes both of different colors, one azure blue like the whole sky is sitting in there and the other one chocolate brown with a hint of blue on the edges; a well-built physique, height about 5'11" to 6'.

"And you are?"

"Jace, Jace Lightwood."

Magnus raised his brow, scanning the man from head to toe and glancing between both men.

"He's my adoptive brother, Magnus. Jace Herondale. He prefers to go by Jace Lightwood tough." Alec said.

"Herondale, I see! Magnus Bane." He said while shaking hands with him.

"Alec! We don't have time, we need to leave now, the energy wave is reaching Idris." Izzy walked in and looked at Magnus.

"Oh! Hello Magnus, I'm Isabelle Lightwood, we met at the club."

"Hello, Isabelle." He said with a light smile.

"Okay, we should leave now. Magnus, can you open the portal? We can talk further on our way." Alec said in a hurried tone.

Magnus had no other option than to obey them at this point, plus now he had to help Lexi reach Idris and erase their memories about her. Blue magic came to life as he waved his hand and created a portal in the center of the hall. "Lead the way!" The others nodded and went ahead.

They reached the jungle where the wards of New York ended and where the energy signals were the highest. Everyone was in their fighting stance, holding their gears tightly, alert and looking in every direction, except for Magnus who had heightened his senses to look for Lexi, alert her, and help her to reach Idris. It was, till Jace broke his concentration.

"Magnus, since you have the knowledge about these creatures, why do you think it's heading towards Idris?" Jace asked while gripping his seraph blade tightly.

Magnus flinched at the word 'creature' but chose to ignore it. Why? He had no idea.

"As far as I know, I think she's heading towards Lake Lynn."

"Lake Lynn!?" "How do you know it's a she?" Alec and Izzy asked at the same time.

Magnus almost rolled his eyes, 'typical Lightwoods' he thought.

"To answer your question, Isabelle, Alexander told me when I came to the Institute to fix the wards."

"Oh!"

"And to answer yours Alexander, before Lake Lynn became a Mortal Instrument, it used to be a rift for páráfiérno, a place where Alemons existed and ruled. As I said before I think she's hiding, and now by her actions I think she's trying to find her home."
