Magnus closed his eyes and gulped. He hoped that the shadowhunter hadn't seen much, because if he did, it's gonna take a hell lot of explanation on his part to calm him down. So, he slowly turned around, trying to act as normal as he could. But when he did, he saw that the shadowhunter's eyes were bloodshot and filled with anger and pain. He gulped again before speaking.
"Alexander, hey, I've missed you, thought I'd surprise y-"
"Cut the crap, Magnus Bane! Don't act like you just came or something 'coz I've seen and heard everything! What the hell even are you?" Alec yelled, trying to suppress his sobs.
Magnus blinked, trying to process what he just said, he was there this whole time, seen him transforming, but he made sure no one was there when he shifted. How could he be careless about this? 'No! No, no. This isn't good. He wasn't supposed to find out, ever. No one does!' he thought and looked at the shadowhunter who was looking at him angrily which made him remember that day more than anything.
"Are you gonna answer!? This whole time Magnus! You're.. you're that cat-fox! That day at Greenwich Village! And when I told you about it you acted like you know nothing! Just why Magnus? Why? Did you enjoy it? Playing with my feelings?" He asked bitterly.
"Alexander... I.. I didn't. Look, please let me-"
"Let you what, Magnus?" He yelled making Magnus flinch back. "Let you lie to me again!? Let you talk me into a web of pretense so you can rip me apart more!? Let you play with me as you did in these five months!?" He didn't want to, but he was crying once again. Angry tears were running down his face, as he tried to sniff it back.
Magnus was speechless, no words came out of his mouth. He never felt as scared as he was now. No one was able to make him feel this small, except now. If it were someone else, he would've easily deceived with the help of his charm, but not him. Never him. He had hidden things, yes, but never lied. He lowered his eyes, he didn't know why he felt shame building inside him, but it did, making him more confused than sorry.
Alec was broken, every moment he spent with the warlock was flashing in front of his eyes. The time they spend together, their dates, everything. He took the poor cat in, cared for him and loved him, given him everything and now finding out that it was Magnus the whole time, the feeling of betrayal was stronger than any other feeling.
"Why Magnus?" He asked softly while holding back a sob. "Playtoy, useless! Is that what I was for you this whole time? Just another toy for your entertainment? I didn't want to open my heart to you, I didn't want to be in love, but you made me, you cared for me, showed me I can find love again. You... you gave me everything I needed. I trusted you, opened up to you, about Samuel, about my past, and you... you just played with it like it meant nothing!"
"N..No, Al... Alexander-"
"Don't call me that! It's Alec!" He yelled. "You don't get to call me that anymore."
"Alexan..." he started but the look Alec gave him had him gulp, hard. "Alec, please, I didn't mean it. You've seen me angry before, I say things I don't mean. Please, please let me explain myself."
"Explain!? So that you can brainwash me! Build up lies and make me believe in those? Not happening, Magnus! And, angry? For what? You just went through my journal, something so private, who gave you the right to go through it!? And what were you looking in there in the first place? That's my whole life's feelings written in it and it's useless for you. I'm useless for you-"
"No! No, Alexa... Alec, you're not useless to me, I said that out of frustration, I didn't mean it at all. Please, let me explain myself."
"Stop it, Magnus!" Alec shouted making Magnus jump. For the first time ever, Magnus looked terrified, which was even new for him. Even the fight with Matthew didn't make him this terrified. "I've already heard everything and I don't want to hear any more of it." He closed his eyes and clenched his fists, a teardrop escaped from his eyes as he slowly opened it.
