Tay POV

Jenna and I have been together for a week. And today's her birthday.

"Guys, besides sex and nudes, what do girls like for their birthdays?" I ask.

"Most girls don't even like either of those." Cameron says.

"Focus! It's Jenna's birthday and I have no idea what to do."

"Write her a song." Rob suggests.

"How did I not think of that?" I say. I grab my notebook from under my pillow and settle in the back lounge. I start to think about the very first time I met Jenna.

I don't really remember the first time we met, but I remember the day I asked her about a duet.

As that thought sits in my head, I get an idea for a song.

I place a single blue candle in the center of a vegan cupcake. I pick up Jordan's lighter from the counter and light the candle. I carefully pick up the cupcake and start singing Happy Birthday. I sit on the couch next to her.

She blows the candle out and smiles. I take the candle out and give her the cupcake. She peels the wrapper off and takes a bite.

"This is really good," She says. "Did you make this?"

"No, I bought it. Sorry."

"Don't be sorry."

I take a deep breath. "So, um, I wrote you a song. And it probably sucks because I've never actually written a song for a girl before--"

"Tay," She cuts me off. "Just play it."

I grab Jordan's acoustic guitar from behind the couch and position it on my lap.

(Play song ---->)

"My wings are breaking, I'm forgetting how to fly to you

The wind keeps on pushing me down.

Resisting against it just to try and break right through, sitting on the stars and moon

Just looking down on you.

There's nowhere else I'd rather be than in your arms tonight

Reaching out for you to see how much you really mean to me.

Wake up, can't you see I'm calling out to you?

These butterflies just keep on coming and I'll just keep on running till I get to you.

Please promise me, please promise that I'll feel alive tonight.

Reckless I arrive to you with nothing but a flower pot

I picked them one by one.

The petals left are all I've got

While childly I wait to see if she loves me or she loves me not.

So carelessly I sing my love to you

Asking where the stars have gone

But you refuse to sing along.

Wake up, can't you see I'm calling out to you?

These butterflies just keep on coming and I'll just keep on running till I get to you.

Please promise me, please promise that I'll feel alive tonight.

There's nowhere else I'd rather be than in your arms tonight

Reaching out for you to see how much you really mean to me.

So carelessly I sing my love to you

Asking where the stars have gone

But you refuse to sing along.

Oh, wake up, can't you see I'm calling out to you, whoa oh oh.

These butterflies just keep on coming and I'll just keep on running till i get to you, whoa oh oh.

Wake up, can't you see I'm calling out to you?

These butterflies just keep on coming and I'll just keep on running till I get to you, whoa oh oh.

Please promise me,

Please promise that I'll feel alive tonight."

She reaches over and envelopes me in a hug. "I love it. Expect me to ask you to play it again."

"I could teach it to you."

"No, I want this song to be our little secret. I just want you to play it for me."

"Okay. Our little secret."

Hi. Please don't hate me.
