Chapter 8 - First Day Part 2

It was a few hours later and everyone decided to see a bit more of Malibu.
Maya definitely didn't realize how many people do go to places like this.
The beach house wasn't very full but the beach and everything else.
It was very busy and Maya sort of knew she would be able to get lost.
It was easy for her to drown her sorrows in busy places.
But this time it wasn't just that.
She had taken on more than she could.
Why did she agree to this crazy thing again?
Oh wait.
She didn't.
She was forced.
And yet she is still wondering why.
Riley, Lucas and Josh would be fine in their own.
She as well.
But maybe this will give her some time to figure out how she does feel.
She and Josh has talked in the past two days more than she could ever imagine they would in a normal day.
But was that good or bad?
She takes it as good.

The four kids were busy just going through a flea market when they heard a loud scream.
Everyone got a fright and immediately they saw people with guns.
Lucas grabbed Riley and pulled her behind him.
Josh looked around for Maya and saw she was just standing still.
He grabbed her and pulled her away from the madness.
Her face expression was blank and she had no reaction to what Josh did.
But neither did Riley with Lucas.
But the difference between the two cases is that Riley and Lucas are dating.
Maya and Josh hadn't got a connection like that.

"Maya? Are you okay?" Josh asked and Maya snap out of it.

Suddenly she didn't feel like something was happening in her past but what was happening right now.
And she was shocked at what was happening.

"Maya," Josh said.
"Hmm?"
"Are you okay? Should I take you to a hospital?" Josh asked.
"No. I'm okay," Maya said.

Josh sigh as he looks to where Riley and Lucas were now chatting.
Of course he knew something was up with Maya but what?
It definitely wasn't something old. It was brand new for him.
He breaks contact with them to look at what Maya's reaction was.
She was calmer than she was a second ago but she certainly wasn't herself.
But what happened?
Why did she just freeze?
She had no idea and neither did Josh.
