Chapter 15 - Rucas Fight

"I can't believe you did that!"
"Me? What about you? You're not innocent."
"Lucas this is not my..."

"What on earth is going on?" Josh said.
"Nothing," Lucas said.
"Lucas Friar what did you do? Don't lie. We heard you guys fighting from outside," Maya said.
"Mind your own business," Lucas said and went outside.

Josh went after him but was stopped by Maya.
Josh was clearly angry and Maya could tell that.
Besides that, Riley was in tears.
She went to her room and slammed the door closed.

"Promise me you won't do anything," Maya said.
"Maya how can earth can you ask that? Look at how..."
"Josh please promise me you won't do anything. Please," Maya said.

Josh took a deep breathe and saw that Maya was scared.
It wasn't like the other day at the town.
She wasn't frozen but she was scared of something.
Maybe because of Lucas' past.
Josh sighed and looked up.
Trying to calm himself down to not do something stupid.
He knew he had to not just protect his niece but Maya as well.

"Okay. I... I won't do anything," Josh said.
"Let him cool down. Tomorrow everything will look better again. I'm going to talk to Riley and calm her down. Will you be okay?" Maya asked.
"I'll keep my distance," Josh said.
"Okay. Let me go see what really happened," Maya said and went to her room.

She walked into the bedroom and Riley was still crying.
She was laying on her bed on the opposite side of the room.
She wasn't just crying, she was sobbing.
Maya took a deep breathe and sat down next to Riley on her bed.

"Riles," Maya said and Riley just cried harder.
"Hey. What is wrong? What happened between you and Lucas?"

Riley took a breathe and sat up.
Her eyes were obviously red from crying and she was short of breathe.

"Charlie Gardener," Riley said and Maya exhaled.
"Did he contact you?" Maya asked.
"Yeah."
"Okay I'll try to calm him down and explain to him it is just platonic. Go wash your face," Maya said.

Riley stood up and went to the bathroom.
Maya exhaled and went back in front.
She found Josh on the couch reading the paper and took a deep breathe making him look at her.

"And?" Josh asked.
"Charlie Gardner. A old boyfriend of Riley before she and Lucas started to date last year. I don't want to know what Lucas did but she is extremely upset. I'll try to talk to him in the morning and no. You're not going to talk me out of it. If anyone knows how Lucas Friar thinks it's me."
"Just be careful, okay?" Josh said and Maya smiled.
"I will. Don't mention anything to him. I'll straight this out in the morning," Maya said.
