Maya was outside sitting at the pool watching Lucas and Riley.
It became something very strange to watch the two teenagers.
But she got used to it pretty fast.
She saw Josh coming out with a face like a few days ago.
What issues does the guy have ever other day?

Josh saw Maya and smiled at her.
He didn't want to go over to her but decided to anyway.
He sat down next to her and Maya smiled.
She was comfortable with him.
Gosh that was something new.

"What are we?" Maya asked and Josh looked at her.
"What do you mean?" Josh asked and Maya pulled her leg up tk her face.
"You know what I mean. Look Josh. This has all been very fun. Relaxing. Not thinking about school or my friends. Just being myself. It's what I've always wanted. But... What about us?" Maya asked.
"You want to know where you stand with me," Josh said.
"I do. And I know you want to know the same thing. What we feel isn't some childish feeling. When we are alone we click. Don't deny it. You feel it as well," Maya said.
"Maybe I do," Josh said and shook his head.

He looked at Riley and Lucas and knew it was now to tell Maya how he really feels.
Whether he likes it or not.

"I like you Maya. A lot. But if it wasn't for this trip I don't think either of us would have seen each other. I think the entire reason we're here isn't to keep an eye on my niece and her boyfriend. But..."
"So we could figure out what we feel. I may be blonde but I'm not dumb. I know why your brother send the two of us as well," Maya said and smiled.
"Is it really that bad thinking that two people who have known each other for awhile is finally feeling something?" Maya asked.
"Probably not," Josh said.

Maya looked at Riley and she thought of when she was so careless.
But not with who.
She knew she had something to tell Josh.
Just not how.

"I didn't freak out without reason," Maya said and Josh figured out what is going on immediately.
"I figured," Josh said.
"My dad used to abuse me when I was little," Maya said and Josh's eyes widened.
"He would come home and yell at my mother before hitting me. He had a lot of problems with both alcohol and drugs. It made him someone I never want to remember," Maya said and looked at Josh.

Tears were shallow in her eyes and she took a breathe.

"One day. I was three. My father barged into the apartment with a gun. Of course I didn't know what to make of it but got the fright of my life when he pulled the trigger. I was scared. Mom pushed me aside and tried to convince Dad to put it down before one of us hot seriously hurt. I was crying my eyes out and when he saw me... I don't know. I think something in him told him he was getting too much. Awhile after that he went to get help and realized that he doesn't want me and my mom anymore. After that it was just the two of us for awhile," Maya said.

She wiped her tears away and breathed.
Josh didn't know what to do and he doesn't think it will change.

"Does Riley know?" Josh asked and Maya shook her head.
"I haven't felt safe enough to tell anyone," Maya said.
"Till now," Josh said and looked Maya in the eye.
"Till now," Maya said and Josh pulled her closer.

He wasn't going to tell anyone.
Neither was he going tk take it further than that.
He knows Maya is going through a lot and for her to gell him that is big.
So he won't break that trust.
