Maya was in her room busy getting ready for her third date with Josh.
They haven't gone on many and now with Maya's mother allowing her outside the house for the first time in two week because of her finals she wants to spend it in a good way.
She was just brushing her hair when Riley came in through her door with the two twelve week olds."Girls night?"
"No Honey. I have a date with your uncle and I bet you Lucas wants to spend some time with Jacob and Cameron. Why don't you guys hang out tonight?" Maya asked.
"Because I miss my best friend. We've barely seen each other and each time it's with bad news. Why are you only yelling my uncle stuff while you know I'm here?" Riley asked.
"Because you're not," Maya said and stood up.
"You're not. You.. You aren't here because you have two babies of twelve weeks to take care of which we don't know is going to be a success. Riley you're young and with time we're gonna have to learn to just go with the flow. I'm busy, you're busy we're all busy. Whether it's with someone else or our own lives. We just have to make peace with it," Maya said.
"I'm off."~
Maya finished getting ready for the day and now she can finally just relax until Josh has to pick her up.
She remembers scenes which eventually changed her life."Nothing is gonna happen. They have to do it always. Don't even know why. Maybe just in case," Josh said and Maya smiled.
"Calm down. Everything will be fine. I promise," Josh said.
"Okay," Maya said."Mind if I sit down?" Maya asked.
"Maya. No you can sit. Why are you up?" Josh asked and Maya sat down.
"Who wants to sleep while the weather is this nice? This place is beautiful," Maya said.
"Yeah. It is," Josh said.
"My niece up?" Josh asked.
"How do you know her? No she's still asleep," Maya said.
"Heard anything of your mom yet? She's probably worried," Josh said.
"Not actually. Or I didn't realize that. She hasn't contacted me yet."
"You seem a bit sad about it. What's bothering?" Josh asked.
"I don't know. I guess I just hoped my mom would care about me. We haven't had a great relationship," Maya said.
"How come? I mean. You're an easy girl to get along with. I don't mean... What I mean..."
"I know what you mean," Maya said and sigh.
"We just never did have a great relationship. Not for the last thirteen years," Maya said."Are you really willing to give up your friendship with Riley to be with me?" Josh asked.
"I'll want to know her if she'll allow me but I think it's time I put myself first. Ever since I met Riley I only thought about what it would do to her. There wasn't a day where I thought of myself. And I think it's time I thought about myself," Maya said.
"And if you lose her?" Josh asked.
"Then so be it. I have been dancing to her pypes for way too long. It's time I thought of myself," Maya said.
"Since I came here I haven't made a decision asking Riley. I've done my own thing and I've just realized how much I needed that. I don't want to do everything according to Riley anymore. I had done that long enough."
"I'm actually really glad I did come here. I saw the real Maya for the first time in my life. I think you're right. You're a scared to make a decision on your own then you ask Riley about everything. Distance is never a bad thing," Josh said and looked at his watch.
"Okay I think we should get back to the house. Riley is probably worried," Josh said and stood up."You sure?" Lucas asked.
"I can't destroy her friendship even if I do like her. I care about her too much to ever let her go through that hurt. I'll explain everything to her. I'm not just going to run away like her father. I won't be able to do that."
"Run away then you can get out of her life. She doesn't need a boy right now. She is happy just the way she is. She has me and my parents and all her friends. We are enough for her and eventually she'll realize that..."
"You are the worst friend on the earth?" Maya asked as she came out.
"How long have you..."
"Long enough. Josh book me a flight back to Manhattan. I'm not staying in this place another second," Maya said.
"But we still have three weeks here," Lucas said.
"I am not staying another second in this place. You want me to chose between you and your uncle? Fine. I'm done with you Riley Matthews. And this time I actually mean it," Maya said.
"I'm coming with you. These two can stay here in their own," Josh said.
"Book for us all to go home then. We won't be able to fly out of here without an adult," Lucas said.
"I'm gonna pack," Maya said."What are we?" Maya asked.
"I've been thinking about that a lot as well. In the beginning we were two people who fell in love and now I'm thinking we are more than that. Maya Hart, would you be my girlfriend?"Maya smiles at remembering all those memories from just awhile back.
She can't believe she is as happy as she is right now and maybe she can be even more happy one day.
Maybe this is her one true love.
