"Ah, that was refreshing!" Might Guy held his bloated belly with satisfaction. "Thanks for the meal!"
"I'm glad you liked it," Yumika gave a closed eye smile. She then opened them to look down, a bit concerned, "Shouldn't Kakashi be back by now? It's been an hour."
"Oh, right, that.." Might Guy blanked out temporarily, as he remembered what Kakashi had said to him earlier.
*Flashback*
"Is that the last of them?" Guy asked while breathing heavily.
"I'm pretty sure," Asuma gave a sigh, cracking his knuckles.
"That means we were successful on the final raid," Kakashi mused. "We should go back to the village leader and...!" Suddenly, Kakashi felt very weak. He let out a short groan as his knees buckled and he dropped to the ground.
Might Guy and Asuma looked at each other before rushing towards their comrade's side, "Kakashi!"
"I'm okay.." Kakashi coughed. "Just..tired.." He didn't realize how much he had relied on his Sharingan for the mission but wasn't too surprised that he would faint afterward.
Guy knelt to lift his rival up, but let out an anguished cry, "Damnit!" Guy looked at his own arm, remembering that he had been pierced by the enemy's poisonous weapons. "Seems like you're gonna hafta help me carry him, Asuma,"
Using both of their might, they helped their wounded comrade up and continued their journey back to Konohagakure. Kakashi's injury was no stranger to the rest of the men; some had come close to death while taking on the various battles that were required for this mission. But it was all worth it, as they all came out alive; which was rare for an S-rank mission.
When they arrived at the village, the team first made their way to the hospital to treat all of their wounds. After Guy got the poison out of his system and a sling to support his wounded arm, he made his way to Kakashi's room to check up on him.
"Oh, somebody's finally awake," Guy rolled his eyes. "couldn't you be awake before Asuma and I had to drag your butt all the way here?"
Kakashi smirked, "Sorry...How about a handshake?" He brought his left hand forward, which made Guy frown since it was his left hand that was cast in the sling. "Oh, oops~"
"You stinker," Guy looked down while chuckling. "Well, I'll leave you here to get your beauty sleep, princess."
"Whatever," Kakashi replied. "Hey, listen,"
"Yeah?"
Kakashi sat up a bit, "Mind not telling Yumi about this? I don't like to worry her."
"But--!"
"Find an excuse and I'll treat you to dinner."
Might Guy then winked at him, "It's a date!"
*end of Flashback*
"Guy, what's wrong?" when Guy got back to his senses, he realized that Yumika was right in front of him.
"I..uh.." he couldn't help but stare at her concerned eyes, as she gripped his wrist worryingly. Little did he know that she was acting extra cute to get some information out of him.
"Is everything okay~?"
Guy turned to the other cheek and closed his eyes while blurting, "Kakashi's at the hospital!"
"What?!" her eyes grew.
"That little stinker doesn't know when to stop pushing himself! He kept using his Sharing--!" he lost his train of thought, as he watched her undo her apron and hang it on the door. "Uh...Yumi?"
"What are you waiting for? Let's go!"
~~~
Kakashi was lying in bed, an arm behind his head to slightly elevate it, "It sure is boring here."
He heard footsteps outside his door and assumed another nurse would come in, but highly doubted that after watching the door burst open.
Yumika had her eyebrows upturned--this time, a mixture of angry and upset--as she breathed heavily. Might Guy was behind her, breathing at the same speed, indicating that both of them had come here as soon as possible.
"Yumika?" his eyes widened, then flared as he saw Guy behind her, "Guy, you idiot.."
"Ehehe, sorry.." Guy gave a sheepish grin before he high-tailed out of the room.
Kakashi scoffed, "Pfft, that dinner date I promised him is so cancelled,"
"So, this is the new Hokage's office, huh?" Yumika exclaimed sarcastically. "Since that's what Guy told me where you were!"
He raised his brows. It wasn't like her to snap at him like this, especially in a situation like this; but this further proved that she was really worried.
He gave a sigh, "This is exactly why I didn't want to tell you."
"So you thought lying would be better, riiight," she frowned at him. "That's incredibly selfish of you, especially after I've been sitting at home worrying all this time."
"Yumi, I'm sorry," he started, watching her pull up a wooden stool beside his bed. "Well, doesn't this scene look familiar~"
Yumika frowned some more, but then couldn't help but smile. She wasn't too far away from him, so she leaned and softly enfolded her arms around his neck. Despite being taken aback, he gave a smile and returned the gesture, embracing her. She pulled back slowly after, raising a hand to gently hold his cheek. Using her other hand, she pushed his bangs back and softly kissed his forehead. He felt his heart skip a beat.
"Yumika..." he met her sincere eyes.
"You fool," she sighed softly, caressing his face in her hands. "I'm just glad that you're okay."
