Yumika returned back to his door and quietly knocked. "Kakashi? May I come in?"

"Well, it is your house..." he responded, as she gently pushed the door open and sat back down on the seat beside his bed.

"Well, it's your room for the time being," she reasoned. "Besides, what if I walked in on you changing or something?"

"What is there to change, really? I mean, you still haven't given me my shirt yet."

They both stared down at his muscle shirt, which was connected to his mask.

"Oh, r-right!" She looked away just as quick and went across the room to retrieve his top.

Without looking, she tossed it at him quickly...accidentally whipping his face.

"..ah, s-sorry."

"Tch." he tried lifting his arms up but winced in pain. "Ah.."

She stood there, her back turned to him, "Everything alright?"

After more grunts of pain and shuffling, he grimly replied, "Yeah."

When she turned around, Yumika held out the bowl and spoon.

"Mind if I ask?" Kakashi stared at his reflection into the murky brown substance in the bowl.

"Miso soup. I spiked it up with some herbs to help you recover faster." she replied.

"This looks..appetizing," Kakashi smirked sarcastically, as he took the bowl into his hand. She handed him a spoon afterward.

She gave a tsk, "Don't mind the looks, you'll be surprised at how fast it'll work."

He hung his index finger on the tip of his mask, ready to pull it down, "Mm, could you..uh..?"

"Of course." she turned around so her back was to him. He lowered his mask.

"Thanks," he said, setting down the soup. "You weren't with Zabuza when we last met him at the bridge, right?"

"That's not true. I was out doing a different mission, so he took Haku instead." she replied.

He placed his spoon back into the bowl, "Oh? The plot thickens. How about you tell me why you joined them in the first place?"

"Hm?" she cleared her throat, "Oh, that. Well, I knew the choice was bad, but I..." she had a sudden interest in her apron.

Kakashi waited patiently while drinking his soup.

"After becoming a Jounin, I went back home to Kirigakure, to return home. My mother's shop was going out of business and she needed money. That's when I met Zabuza. He only would take me if I impressed him with my skills, so I had to work hard to get in." she took another pause, either to remember or forget, "The job was rewarding financially and that's about it..."

He didn't say anything. He slowly tilted his soup bowl and drank all the remains of the Miso soup, which he later found to be delicious. Just after he raised his mask, she turned around and collected the empty bowl and spoon from him, handing him a napkin to clean himself.

"Hm? Oh, no thanks. I already cleaned them." He assured her. She noticed wet stains on the collar of his shirt.

She held the bridge of her nose in annoyance, "I just washed that."

He shrugged it off but smirked upon seeing her reaction.

"Do you need anything else?" she asked.

"No thank you." he replied, as she set the empty bowl on the table.

He leaned back and picked up his novel and began to read.

"'Make-Out Paradise?'" she chuckled as she read the title.

Kakashi looked at her. "It's a good book. You should read it sometimes."

"What's it about?"

He thought she was joking but when he looked up, her eyes were wide with curiousness, "Uh, well, you see, Yumika.."

Kakashi had been in Yumika's house for about three days (including the time it took for him to wake up), and he was slowly getting comfortable. They would spend the day helping Kakashi walk with a crutch in one hand, then would share a meal together at the dinner table, with small talk at night. It was a decent schedule, and the two adults began to enjoy the others company.

One night, Yumika found Kakashi standing on the roof, observing the stars. She climbed out her window and frowned.

"What are you doing?"

"Nothing, really. I was just thinking about my students." Kakashi replied, glancing at her. "Sorry to wake you."

"No, no. It's alright. I wasn't sleeping anyway."

As she was about to head back inside, he spoke up, "As much as I enjoy your company, I should really be heading back to my students. The people in the Leaf Village must be worried about my students and I. It's been a few days since we first came here..."

"I understand that. Are you fully recovered, at least?"

Kakashi smiled at her. "Don't worry about me. I'll be fine, Yumika." he looked back at her. "It's my students I'm more concerned about, especially Naruto. He's quite stubborn, you see."

"Well, if he was taught by you, I'd imagine he is.." she joked.

He raised his eyebrows, "Uncalled for, ma'am."

She stared back up into the sky after laughing softly. He smirked himself, then looked back upwards. The moon was waxed to a full, and shined down upon them brightly, accompanied by the speckled stars.
