A/N: HIHI! So as many of you know, I wrote this story many years ago, hence the strange ending haha. A few people don't like this chapter and were sad about it, so I decided to make this chapter and ending OPTIONAL! If you guys want the ending from chapter 41 it's totally fine! Or if you prefer this one that's fine too! Again, since I wrote this a long time ago, I'm ok with either ending so I'll keep both up and let you guys decided which one you want to "accept" XD anyways enjoy! ty for reading!

"Kakashi! Hey Kakashi Sensei!"

"Wake up!"

"Kakashi!"

"Please open your eyes!"

"Sensei!"

Kakashi was in a bed, in a cool room. He felt as if his entire body had been boiled in a pot then left in the freezer. He felt chills going up and down his bloodstream. His breathing was frail and feint..was he even alive?

He kept hearing the voices hissing and crying, pleading him to wake up. Kakashi tried very hard to open his eyes, but it was no use. Finally, he shot his eyelids open and he saw three blurry heads poking down at him. He felt waterfall down onto his forehead, and Kakashi's eyes twitched.

Sakura wiped her eyes, "Sensei!"

"You're up!" Naruto exclaimed, almost in awe.

Kakashi tried speaking, but his mouth was dry..his voice crusty. Sakura waved her hands at Sasuke and he walked over with a glass of water. She gently poured it into Kakashi's mouth and he swallowed. He wiped his mouth and sat up straight, with the assistance of Naruto and Sasuke. Kakashi rubbed his eyes and blinked at all the heads.

"Where a..are we?" he asked.

"Tazuna's house." Sakura replied.

Kakashi frowned, but then nodded. "Oh, right. After Yumika's funeral, we must have stopped by Tazuna's house."

"Yumika?" Naruto scrunched his nose up.

"Yeah, my wife.."

The three blinked at him.

Kakashi moistened his lips, "What's with that confused expression? Do you not know who she was?"

Naruto rubbed his chin, "'Was'? Dontcha' mean 'is'?"

"No, Naruto. She died last week..don't you remember?"

"Who the hell is this 'Yumika' person?" Sasuke pondered aggressively.

Kakashi glared at him, "My wife, idiot. You've all met he--!"

Naruto burst out laughing, "HAH! Like Kakashi Sensei would ever get a wife!"

"Naruto! This could be serious!" Sakura smacked him and he stopped giggling. She turned back to Kakashi, concern in her eyes, "Sensei, none of us know who she is." She rubbed her chin and looked down, "Hm, Tazuna did say that sensei hit his head a few times.."

"You went to our wedding, for heaven's sake!" Kakashi said. "Why don't any of you remember her? She only died recently!"

Sakura scratched her head, "So..you had a wife?"

He clapped his hand on her forehead, "Of course I did! You even met her! She was even your teacher for a few weeks!"

She had a worried expression on her face, "You're heating up, Sensei. Here--" she handed him a wrung out cloth, "--use this."

He swatted the cloth down and held his forehead, "What is wrong with you guys? How could you forget about her?!"

"Maybe she was a figment of your imagination," Naruto said silently. "You were knocked out for a couple of days.."

Something snapped inside of Kakashi. He reached forward and grabbed a fistful of Naruto's shirt into his hand. "Don't mess with me, Naruto. This isn't funny."

Sakura tried to pry Kakashi's hands off the blond, "Let go of him, Sensei!"

Kakashi ripped her hands away and rummaged through his pocket; hoping to find a photograph to show the children. Everyone was going crazy around him. How could they possibly forget her? The team loved Yumika; this had to be some cruel joke. Kakashi turned white when he found his pockets empty.

Kakashi's eyes widened, "T..this can't be happening! I had the picture r..right here!"

"Let it go, Kakashi." Sasuke said coldly. "You must've dreamed during your coma."

Things were crazily going around. He was so confused. He took off his vest and emptied all the pockets once more,"No..no..no. It's gotta be here."

He was searching frantically, which worried Sakura. She gasped and looked at Naruto, "Get Tazuna! His pain meds must've worn off!"

"I'm not crazy!" Kakashi said, but the three children ran out of the room to get Tazuna. "She's real, I can prove it!"

Kakashi felt like ripping his Jounin jacket up, into shreds. He felt as if the world was against him. He gave a short yell and put a hand on top of his face. He wanted to cry, but his eyes wouldn't obey. He sat there.

"It's alright..I'm here for you." a voice floated in the room.

He felt hands on both his cheeks, and he looked up. It was his late wife, Yumika. He stared at her in horror. It was obviously his imagination. She was clad in the same thing she wore when she was buried. She gave him a small smile and rested her forehead onto his. It all felt so real. She stepped back and a child emerged from behind her legs. It was a small child, about three. He looked at Kakashi and giggled.

"Daddy!" the boy exclaimed, waving at him excitedly.

"Doesn't Atsumori look like you?" Yumi laughed softly. "He's an amazing child." Her eyes drifted to her hands, "It might be selfish of me, but I kinda hoped that you'd never leave."

"I..I'm s..sorry." Kakashi breathed, glancing at them both, trying to reach out.

Suddenly, the voices of Team Seven were getting louder and louder; they were almost in the room. Yumika looked at the door in surprise, hiding Atsu behind her legs again. She turned back to Kakashi and gave him one final smile.

"Let's go, mommy!" Atsu tugged on her dress. He looked at Kakashi and waved shyly.

She leaned down towards Kakashi and softly kissed his forehead. Though it was his imagination, the kiss felt very real; it was hard to believe it wasn't.

She smiled, tears falling down her face. "Goodbye."

Their images slowly dissolved into the air and when Kakashi blinked again, there was no sign that they were ever there before. He rubbed his eyes and breathed heavily, "No..no wait! Don't leave me, dammit! Stay here!"

Kakashi fell down back onto his mattress and looked back at the ceiling.

"..Don't leave me..."

He heaved a long sigh. It was all over. Everything was just a long dream. She never existed. Kakashi had never fallen in love. Everything was a lie. He should've known. He never loved anyone so much before; it had to be a dream. His love..his wife..his son..all gone.

Kakashi Hatake was once again alone.

Maybe for good this time...
