From Kill To Kiss (Kakashi x OC)

Thirty-Nine

The weather was getting worse, so Kakashi decided to cancel the training session and walk the kids back home. But it was going to take longer than he expected; the Leaf Village was under attack. Sakura screamed as she saw Sasuke and Naruto run towards the fire. She trembled with fear.

Kakashi took off after the two boys. "Come on!"

Sakura gulped but obeyed her Sensei. She ran after him despite all her fears. It wasn't as bad; only a few ninjas from outside the leaf village came over. The villagers made the foolish choice to attack them with pitchforks and torches. Kakashi began to fight, along with his students, but he felt uneasy. This fight seemed a bit too...'out of the blue'.

There was no warning, no signal or no...nothing. Sakura kicked a masked-ninja in the face and then struck her shuriken into his thigh. The assassin groaned in pain, then punched her away. Sakura motionlessly fell backwards.

"Sakura!" Naruto yelled, but his eyes were glued to his current opponent. As usual, Kakashi Sensei scooped her to the side and protected her.

Sasuke rolled his eyes while dodging a flying kunai, "She's useless..."

Sakura groaned in pain, "I'm s..sorry..."

Azuma and his team fought their way towards Kakashi. Ino had her knotty, grimy blonde hair tumbled around her shoulders. Her hair tie was snapped, and you could hardly see her face. Shikamaru looked a bit bored, but even his breathing was heavy. Chouji had finally opened his eyes, and for once he wasn't devouring a bag of chips.

"Kakashi!" Azuma called. "There are more over on the other side!"

"Where are they coming from?!" Kakashi shot back, as he shoved another ninja to the ground.

"Kirigakure!"

Kakashi nearly froze. The Land of Waves...

How could he have been so stupid?!

The assassins must have come under the command of Zabuza Momochi; to get revenge on Kakashi's wife. But Yumika was at home right now. Alone.

He gritted his teeth and swore, but was drowned out by the screams of the ninja and the pouring of the rain.

"I have to get home.."

"Check all the rooms," Zabuza ordered. "Until you find her."

"Yessir." Haku silently checked all the doors until he reached the second last one. The door creaked quietly and he poked his head inside.

Little did he know that Yumika was hiding in the closet, covering her hand over her mouth. Because of her pregnancy, she became increasingly less fit and found it hard to move around, let alone fight, in this state, especially since she did not want to put the baby at risk. But she had little choice now.

When she sensed the presence leave the room momentarily, she burst out of the closet and shot a row of kunai at her target.

Without turning around, Zabuza deflected all the projectiles with his sword. He chuckled raspily as he turned around to face her. She nearly began shaking in fear.

The cold dead eyes, the sharp teeth, the smell of the ocean mixed with blood... Her past was all coming back to her. Yumika's breathing became heavy.

"I found you, Yumika."

"Kakashi!" Gai yelled, as he kicked mid-air, knocking a ninja flying into the sky. "Where's Yumi?"

"At home!" Kakashi yelled back.

"Go! Make sure she's safe!"

Kakashi gave Gai a wistful look, then nodded. He sprinted as fast as he could down the village. The rain had already put out the fire, but it was the flooding that was going to be a hazard. Kakashi had to get home; he needed to save his family. Using his hand, he swished his heavy, wet hair out of his eyes. As he ran into the forest, lightning lightened up the dark sky for a split of a second. Kakashi ran even faster, ignoring how tired he was.

"When all of this is done..." he wheezed to himself. "I can..finally finish volume 8...and sleep all I want."

He suddenly could see the house, as lightning struck the tree next to it. He ran at full speed and attempted to burst the door open, but it was locked. He kicked the door restlessly. "Damnit!"

From the inside, Haku looked at the door, "Somebody's here, Zabuza."

He sneered. "Haku, be a dear and open it for me. I bet it's the Copy Ninja himself..coming here to save his lady."

Kakashi burst through, only to see Zabuza holding a finger to his lips and his unconscious wife in his arms.

"Shhh," he whispered. "Wouldn't want to wake her up, would you?"

"You bastard!"

"She looks so peaceful..." Zabuza stoked his fingers along her face, his grip on her wrist tightening. She cried out in pain.

"Don't fucking touch her!" Kakashi charged at him.

Her eyes fluttered open, then widened her eyes upon seeing Kakashi tackle Zabuza onto the ground.

"Kakashi!" she waited for the right moment and used a substitution jitsu so that he would have a log in hostage as opposed to her. When she came to, she was out of his grip but Haku had several needles at her throat. She saw Zabuza stand up and smile crookedly at her. Her face paled, and she backed away.

"H'lo, Tsuchida.." He chuckled roughly. "Miss me?"

"What do you want, Zabuza?" she demanded, her voice slightly shaky.

"I have no interest in the Copy Ninja." Zabuza stole her into his arms, then crashed outside through the window. She let out a protested cry. "Only you."

"Yumi!" Kakashi yelled and was about to jump after him, when Haku stepped in the way. "Get out of my way!" he raised his forehead protector and revealed his Sharingan.

"Why are you doing this?" Yumika demanded as she struggled to escape from his grasp.

"Traitors really deserve punishment," he replied. "You had one job that day." (lol sounds like a meme)

She looked downwards, continuing to try to escape, "I was done with working for you.."

"Marrying the enemy isn't a way of resigning, Yumika. What you did is hard to forgive now." he snapped his fingers and her eyes closed instantly.

They suddenly disappeared into mist. When she woke, her vision was impaired because of all the heavy mist. Yumika fluttered her eyes open, getting up from the ground. Her eyes then grew.

She could hear cold laughter echoing through her ears. When she opened her eyes again, she realized that she was in the same spot in Kirigakure, where she had first been reunited with Kakashi.

Zabuza emerged before her. She tried to run up and attack, but she couldn't move. Instead, she started to feel an excruciating amount of pain in her stomach.

'The baby..is it okay?' she couldn't help but wonder, rubbing a hand over her stomach.

This put her guard down. He laughed, "Oh, don't tell me you're expecting now. Am I gonna kill two birds with one stone?"

He came at her with full speed, swinging his sword out in front of him. She struggled to sidestep out of the way, falling to her knees afterwards. She closed her eyes and waited for the blade to pierce through her.

"You'll be killing no birds today, Zabuza." she opened her eyes to find Kakashi in front of her, blocking Zabuza's attack. "Yumi, go!"

As much as his help was appreciated, she knew he had no place in this battle. This was her business and her own sins to atone.

"No. This doesn't involve you. Go help the village, Kakashi."

Kakashi grit his teeth, "Shut up, I'm not leaving."

"You heard her." Zabuza did some quick hand signs and a huge cloud of fog filled up the area. Kakashi was blinded temporarily, and when he came to, they were both gone.

"Dammnit!" he cursed.
