After another five minutes of what seems like twenty, filled with my annoyance and snapping at Kevin, we make to my apartment.

"Do you want me to walk you to the door?" He asks with concern in his eyes, looking at the crutches that are next to my seat. My heart melts, but it's not because of the same warmness Niall gives me.

"No, I think I'm good, but thanks," I tell him with a smile that is a bit forced.

"Okay, well if you need me you know how to reach me. If you need food or like dinner I can pick you up or even cook for you or if you need anything like girl stuff..."

I wave my hand to cut him off. "Thanks Kevin, I'll keep note of that offer."

I open the car door and fixate my large boot out the door and slide my crutches in front of me, stumbling a little.

"Here, let me help," he says, running out of the drivers seat and around to me.

"N-no I'm fi-" I rush to get up to prove myself, but almost face plant that concrete sidewalk in doing so, until Kevin puts his arms out and I fall into him.

My arms automatically grasp onto him, and I clutch onto his striped shirt sleeves, breathing heavily.

"Thank you," I mumble into his shirt, then try to stand up on my good foot. He grabs my crutches that fell onto the sidewalk and I put them under my armpits.

"I'm so sorry this is so embarassing, I'm not used to need helping. I always do everything for myself," I admit, and I can only imagine how pink my cheeks are.

"Don't worry about it. That's what friends are supposed to do, right? Catch you when you fall. Literally and figuratively," he laughs and I do too.

"I'll get going," I say awkwardly, and crutch away up the path to my door. I don't hear him move, so I assume he is still standing by his car, watching me.

I continue but then stop when I reach the few brick stairs. This is going to more difficult than I thought. Then I groan at the thought of how my bedroom is on the second floor, and the staircase inside is much more than the three steps in front of me.

I put my crutches up on the first step and swing the rest of my body up, and my stomach leaves my stomach while I do so. It works, and the thrill in this was rather exciting. I laugh silently to myself and then take on the other two steps.

"I gotta admit, that took skill, Allyson," Kevin calls out and I give him a thumbs up to signal I heard him without turning around. I make it to my front door and knock aggressively, praying that Morgan is home because once again; Niall has my stuff. Including my phone. And my money. And everything else that is somewhat important.

Then the door swings open, revealing the one girl I was so relieved to see.

I crutch through the doorway and inside, then turning myself to face Kevin for a last time.

"Thanks for the lift," I shout.

"No problem. Remember, just call me if you need anything. Or even if you need some company, I'll drop everything I'm doing to come see you," he says and I smile, this time genuinely.

"See you around, Kevin," I tell him and shut the door as I hear him say something back, that I just can't make out. I doubt it's important nonetheless.
