I was laying in my bed, wide awake. I sighed and rolled over, facing the gigantic window in my room. Of course you could only see out and not in. I reached over and opened my nightstand drawer, taking out two throwing knives and placing them on the top. I lifted the false bottom of my drawer and took out the picture I had of my mom. Apparently my dad took the picture and my mom kept it ever since. I always used to carry it around with me as a child, whenever I got sad while she was away at the store, I'd take it out of my pockets and look at it. That's one of the few things I can recall from back then.It was probably the only thing I still have from my childhood. I clutched the picture to my chest and remembered her. How her eyes would shine bright whenever I did something right, and whenever I was bad she wouldn't stay mad at me for more than two minutes. She used to always call me cute. I carefully set down the picture on my sheets and took out another photo.
It was my mom in front of our tiny house, holding me. She was dressed in a sky blue dress that flowed around her. She had bags under her eyes but still smiled as bright as the sun. I looked at baby me in her arms, I was dressed in a light green dress that had cartoon flowers all over it and tiny boots on my feet. I chuckled a little seeing that I was midway through a laugh in the photo. I hadn't noticed I was crying until the tears flowed down my cheeks. I wiped my eyes and set down the photo, taking out a third from the drawer.
It showed my mom and baby me sleeping on her bed together. She held me to her chest while I was sucking my thumb in my sleep. She looked so happy that she was getting sleep. I turned over the photo and looked at the neat writing on the back.
The day she finally got rest.
My dad probably always wrote on the backs of photos, but not the other two for some reason.I got the photos and put them back into the drawer and put the false bottom on top of it. I put my throwing knives back in and closed the drawer. I wasn't even tired still and thought about the time that Thor has told me I might be Asgardian. I got out of bed and slipped some jeans on. I thought for a second while looking at my other bedside drawer. I shrugged and grabbed my mobile phone and put it into my pocket.
I opened my door and peeked out. I then opened it enough for me to slip through and closed the door. I went to the stairwell door and went through as well. I went down a floor and went through the metal door. I stared in awe at the countless amounts of books on the shelves. Once Tony had found out that I liked to read, he immediately turned the lower floor into a library.
In the middle of the room there were couches and two tables, a dark green and silver rug with a snake on it underneath them. To the sides of the space we're bookshelves as high as the ceiling. There were other rows behind them and a staircase leading up to a balcony, where you could reach the top books. It was the same on the other side as well, the bookshelves made out of a dark wood that was polished and looked nice. Behind the living space was a huge window that looked over the city, the moonlight shone in, illuminating the laminated floor. To the right against the wall was a little counter. It had a coffee pot, a mini fridge, an electric kettle, tea bags, a sink, different sugars, and some mugs. I breathed in the scent of the wood and paper, smiling to myself.
I went over to the counter and filled the kettle with some water and put it on boil. While I was waiting, I went to the staircase on the left and went up to the second floor of books. I had practically memorized the sections by now. I was in the mythology section. I went to 'n' and looked through the books. I found an old book of Norse mythology. I smiled and went back downstairs to the couch and set the book down. I went back over to the, now boiling, water and poured some into a green mug. I grabbed a tea bag and dunked it into the water and waddled over to the couch. I took out my phone and set it on a nearby table, as well as my tea.
I opened the mythological book and searched the index. I found 'Asgard' and turned to the page on it. I started reading about Asgard and things about it.
»Time Skip - 8:04 a.m.«
I had gotten so lost in reading that I was now on 'Realms'. I hadn't noticed that my phone had gone off or that I was on my fourth cup of tea. I finally noticed that I had been in the same position for an hour and my legs were cramping up. I stood up and grabbed a label from a tea bag and used it as a bookmark, since folding the corner of a page is a literal sin. I set the book down on the side table and put my mug into the sink. I grabbed my phone and walked out into the stairwell and walked up a level to the main floor. When I walked in, Steve, Natasha, Tony, and a strange man was sitting on the couch. The strange man was sitting next to Steve and had a metal arm, cool!
"Hey guys."
"There you are Y/n, where have you been?" Tony asked, looking at me.
"The library, of course."
"Y/n, this is Bucky, I've talked about him once or twice." Steve said standing up, Bucky standing with him.
"Once or twice, more like a thousand times." I said while rolling my eyes and walking over to Bucky. "Hi, I'm Y/n." I held out my hand for him to shake.
"I'm Bucky." He hesitantly shook my hand and let go. I smiled at him and the gestures to his metal arm.
"I like your arm, it looks cool." Bucky perked up a little when I said this.
"Thank you." He grinned a little and sat bag down with Steve.
"So... anyone cook breakfast?" I turned to the group and asked. Natasha rolled her eyes and smirked.
