Shorter and Aubrey were left on the steps as they watched Y/N leave with Kane. Aubrey looked at Shorter sadly before she turned to walk back to your apartment.

"How long has she been seeing him?" Shorter asked abruptly. Aubrey paused her actions and looked at him.

"They work together...I'm sorry Shorter, you seem like a nice guy, but Y/N isn't into the whole gang leader thing."

"I-I know, but I can't just abandoned my men for her. Especially if there's no guarantee we'll last together," Shorter admitted.

"So you're not thinking about your relationship with her as long term? She's not something you can dispose of in a month or something." Aubrey stated coldly glaring at Shorter.

"I'm not thinking of her like that. What if over some time she decides she's too good for me and leaves? For a clean cut dude like the guy she's with now. If I just left my men like that I'd lose years of trust and have no one to fall back on. There's also the fact that I'd still be a target anyways. My fate is decided there's no escape from this life besides death." It was silent once Shorter stopped speaking.

"Just...go home for now Shorter. If your fate is decided than maybe you were mean't to cross paths with Y/N again. You can't force it." With that Aubrey took her leave.

Meanwhile you were enjoying your time with Kane.

"Wow this place looks amazing!" You gasped at the luxurious resturaunt.

"I'm glad you think so." Kane smiled gently squeezing your hand.

"Mr. King, welcome back. Is your family with you?" A waitress came to ask.

"Not this time. I've brought my date." You smiled awkwardly at the lady.

"Ah please follow me. Are you okay with upper level seating?"

"Yes, preferrably by the window if you can."

"No problem. Should I let him know that you're here?"

"No I'll let him do his job for once." Kane laughed. You followed him up the set of glass stairs in a daze.

Is Kane stinkin rich?

King? How fitting.

"Here you are sir, I'll be back in just a moment to take your order."

"K-kane do you come here often?" You look around at the giant glass window next to you that overlooks the town. The lights starting to come on and light up the city.

"Yeah, this is my uncle's resturaunt I eat here often for my birthday and other special occasions,"

"The food here is really good." He beams.

"How can you casually just say that, I swear I saw like 3 celebrities. Not to mention on the wall coming in a signed photo of THE Gordon Ramsay."

"Yeah? Most of the staff here were personally trained by him. The newer people aren't though." Kane shrugged.

"There are two kitchens?" You ask watching a waiter come from the level you guys were currently on with a tray of food.

"Yeah there's too many stairs not to have two kitchens." Kane was amused to see you so surprised and in awe. His uncle was like a second father to him and he was proud that you liked the restaurant.

"So what would you like to get?"

"I have no idea what half of this stuff is." You admit.

"Is it okay if I get you some of the most popular items?" Kane asks. You nod in response. Just in time the waitress from before arrives.

"What can I get for you?"

"For starters I'd like the Native lobster and Pressed foie gras. As the main courses we'd like the Guinea fowl blanquette and the John Dory."

"You aren't allergic to anything, right?"

"No."

"What would you like to drink?"

"The best wine you have tonight."

"Will that be all?"

"Yes." The waitress disappeared into the kitchen.

You began talking with Kane once again about all sorts of things. Right when Kane was speaking an older man grabbed Kane's shoulder.

"Kane!" The man's voice boomed. Kane's face instantly lit up.

"Uncle Joel!" He stood up to hug the man.

"Why are you here? I told them not to tell you I was here."

"You caused a bit of an uproar in the kitchen when they found out they'd be serving you." Kane shook his head chuckling.

"Uncle this is Y/N we work together." He introduced you.

"Nice to meet you Y/N." His uncle smiled taking your hand in his and kissing it.

"Nice to meet you as well. What a lovely restaurant you have sir." You complimented.

"Thank you, well I should be heading back I have a lot of work today. Someone rented out the entire place for a party."

"Good luck Uncle." Kane's uncle waved and he was off to do his duties.

"So you're quite popular with the workers here, huh?"

"When I was a teen I actually worked her as a waiter, so I know everyone here and still keep in contact."

"That's sweet."
