Shorter's phone vibrated in his back pocket waking him from his slumber. He moved slightly making sure not to wake you before grabbing his phone and answering it.

"hello?" He whispered. You shifted in his grasp.

"Hey I'm gonna need your help as soon as possible." Shorter could hear Ash's men in the back. It sounded chaotic he looked to your sleeping form to see if the call was bothering you. Luckily you were still fast asleep. He hummed in response and started to make his way stealthily out the door.

"Dino," Shorter huffed before making his way into the building. Sing wasn't far behind him as they took out guy after guy. They could hear multiple voices and pained screams of the wounded.

"Shorter!" Sing pushed moved the older male out of the way, but before the enemies gun could go off he was shot square in the face.

"Ash," They looked up to the blond looming above him with his gun aimed as he took out another guy.

"Dino has taken Eiji hold these guys off for me." Shorter nodded in response watching as Ash dashed off.

You awoke to an empty bed where Shorter once laid. You sighed knowing he must have went to "take care of something" again. You laid there staring out the window thinking to yourself about your life so far.

Dont I have the best luck in the world. My first boyfriend turns out to be a predator. A guy from my job likes me, but I pick the gang leader. I thought I moved away from this shit. obviously that's not the case and god just wants to take me out. Out of all the things Shorter could be doing...a fuckin gang leader? I never would have even thought he'd do something like that. I mean he has sort of a rebellious look to him, but c'mon!

You're just worried...

Your phone began to ring knocking you out if your thoughts. As much as you wanted to see Shorter's name it wasn't, it was Aubrey.

"Heyy boo!"

"Hey Bre, what's up?"

"Sooo I ran into that Kane guy from your job at the club the other night."

"Oh? Did you guys talk?" You asked.

"Yeah and he told me that you were dATING SHORTER!" Aubrey screamed into the phone making you cringe.

"When were you going to tell me?"

"I was caught up in stuff, I was going to tell you eventually."

"I forgive you,"

"Why so quickly?" You asked suspiciously.

"Since you basically turned Kane down we actually hooked up last night and now he wants to see me later on tonight." You could tell she was cheesing hard.

"Wow that's great."

"You don't mind right? Since you talked to him before."

"Nope not at all."

"Well I'm headed off to the shop talk to you later."

You moved over to your computer and powered it up so that you could get some more work done. The rest of the day was mundane as it usually was. You looked at the clock on your desktop and the time read 11:03 pm. Shutting your computer down you made your way to the kitchen to find something to eat before going to bed. As you were searching your cabinets you heard the front door open and multiple people walk in.

"Shorter?" You grabbed a knife and poked your head out of the entrance of the kitchen. Shorter came into yout view and rushed to you hugging you tightly.

"I'm sorry Y/N, but I've got to go. We're leaving to California later on tonight." He kisses the top of your head.

"For what?"

"A lot of things that are too hard to explain right now are happening and we need to leave." He vaguely tells you.

"Well I'll go with you."

"Baby it's not safe I told you I wouldn't let you get harmed."

"I don't care Shorter I want to be with you." You protest. Both of Shorter's hands come up to meet your face as he stares into your eyes.

"Don't be so stubborn and childish about it Y/N. I won't allow it, it's far too dangerous and we have people coming after us." Tears filled your eyes at this as he gave you one more kiss and left with Eiji and Ash behind him. Eiji waved awkwardly giving you a sad smile.
