Though times were hard Shorter had decided he no longer wanted to live the way he did. The thought of not being able to come home and you finding out that he was no longer around crushed him. It had been going on a year and a half since he left the gang life, many claimed Shorter had just went soft for you which was true. Shorter was not ashamed to admit he was giving up that lifestyle for the women he loved.

Shorter packed the last bag of clothes into the U-Haul. You came out of the apartment with Aubrey right behind you complaining about how much she'd miss you.

"Who am I going to hang out with and gossip about stuff? You're like my only friend and you definitely don't have any others." Aubrey pouted.

"Aubrey we can see each other, I'll be able to work from home so it's okay."

"Come back and see me often especially on holidays," You got into the car where Shorter was waiting.

"Also don't forget to call or text me." She added.

"You sound like a mom watching her child leave to college. Isn't Kane waiting on you or something?" You remind her.

"Oh shit I gotta go, call me!" Aubrey dashed off making you chuckle. Your phone began to ring checking the caller ID it was your sister.

"Hello?"

"I come back and you end up leaving. What kind of mess is that?"

"I know, but this was a job offer I couldn't pass up."

"I'm really proud of you kid. I know this is something you've always wanted to do."

"Thank you."

"Well I'll let you get going stay safe and text me when you get there." After you said goodbye you hung and began your journey.

"I hope you're ready for the longest trip of your life." You turned to Shorter with a half smile. After almost a full day and switching with Shorter often you arrived.

Since you moved to the new location of An-X Studio the company personally helped you with finding a place. It was a duplex close to the studio complete with a garage and back patio. The other cool features were the tennis courts and pools that you'd definitely be using in the summer.

The home included two rooms on the upper level and a fully furnished basement with one and a half bathrooms. It wasn't the most luxurious place in the world, but it felt like a home. Once you finally got the house together you had a few days before work officially started.

"Let's go out and celebrate." Shorter suggests suddenly.

"Tonight?"

"Yes, I'll find a place for us to eat and we'll just head out for dinner. You deserve it after getting such a wonderful opportunity."

"Okay." You had no idea what Shorter had in store for you, but the man was practically buzzing. The ring he had hidden was making him itch to reveal it to you.

"It will be some place fancy so wear something nice." With that he disappeared with his face buried in his phone.

Your dress was a dark red with a deep V, you decided on small black heels to match. Shorter wore a silk button up and dress pants along with some oxfords.

"You look gorgeous!" Shorter compliments giving you a quick kiss on the cheek.

"Thank you," you curtsy playfully.

"You look very handsome tonight."

"Why thank you." Shorter bows. The two of you laugh and joke around on your way out.

Once reaching the resturaunt the waitress directs you two to outside seating where no one seemed to be, but the place didn't seem all that busy to begin with. Spending time with Shorter like this felt nice.

"I can't wait to-" you were cut off by your heel slipping off your foot. Ever since you wore them out once the strap had been acting funny, that's what you get for buying shoes online.

"I'll get it, just sit and continue talking." Shorter gets down to fix your shoe for you and you continue to ramble on about working.

"Y/N." Shorter calls.

"Yes?"

"We had such a rocky start especially because of the things I did, but ever since we've met I've never had such a strong urge to want to turn a new leaf. You have made me want to become a better man for you and because of that I want to spend the rest of my life beside you. F/N, will you marry me?" Shorter opened the small box to reveal the prettiest ring you've ever seen.

You were overwhelmed and speechless. You froze in your spot just staring at the kneeling man before you. You nod slowly before breaking into a smile and actually voicing it. Shorter slips the ring onto your finger and gets up with a hug. The waitress from before comes out to congratulate you with the rest of the staff. She brings out a free dessert and even takes a photo of the two of you.

"I love you Shorter."

"I love you more Y/N."
