i laid in my girlfriend's room, her stroking my hair.

it was a saturday, and the sun shone brightly through the window.

"babygirl," she whispers as i scroll endlessly on my phone. "babygirl..." she whispers again.

"can you believe that we've been together since like," i count my fingers. "4th grade? i have no idea. we're probably the longest lasting couple ever." she laughs.

"it really doesn't seem like it, at all," she frowns. "it kinda flew by really quickly."

"it felt like forever when i was in camp," i frown. "i nearly lost you then, if i really fell in deep enough."

"i sometimes think that without you, i'd really be nothing. is the feeling mutual?" she looks me straight into the eyes.

"yes. the feeling is mutual." and i lean in for a kiss. she dodges.

"can i ask you a serious question?" olivia faces me now, her blue eyes accentuated by the sunlight beating down from the window. "do you consider yourself as a... lesbian?"

she blushes, olivia rarely blushes.

"gee," i rub the back of my neck. "i don't know."

"nevermind," she blushes more now. "i'm just gonna be here."

days pass and i rarely went home. my mom didn't much complain but our relationship was starting to drift apart.

not like it was ever close.

suddenly, i receive a phone call from the dolans.

"yo em," i heard ethan's voice. "wanna come over with olivia, i heard the great news! let's celebrate."

"sure!" i smile through the phone. "there's really nothing much to celebrate about though, wait a second? my mom's calling me. gotta go!"

i press decline and accept.

"hi mom," i say annoyed. "what's up?"

"you have to come home right now," i could feel her cold voice through the phone and i shiver.

"you can bring your girlfriend here if you want to," her voice tenses up like she always, when she's talking about olivia. "Mr. Brooks would like to see the both of you."

i smile. "sure mom."

----

"baby," she adjusted her blouse, that was tucked into her dark blue jeans. she wore air-force ones with low rise socks, her hair thrown in a bun with no makeup on.

"i don't think i want to look like this," she frowns. "i don't fit this look. i never wear dark jeans."

"you look fine babe," i assure her. "you're all pretty and stuff. look! we're kinda matching!"

i wore a pastel pink button-up and i tied the loose end up, and had my hair in a ponytail. i wore loose jeans that were ripped at my knees, and pulled up my nike socks to my ankles.

"yeah, i guess," she adjusts her blouse again. "are you sure?"

"yes! i'm positive!" i look in the mirror. "my mom is going to love this. maybe she'll accept you!"

"i don't think so," she frowns. "the last time your mom invited me to your house was when you were going to go through conversion therapy camp. yelled at me good for leading you the wrong direction."

"well this time it's gonna be different." i insisted. "i'll fight a bitch if she says anything bad. anyways let's go."

so there we went, running round the block hand in hand.

"hi," my mother said coldly, her hands folded in her lap. "olivia, we finally meet again."

"hello, mrs. chamberlain." she greeted her grimly. "how have you been doing?" i cringed at the conversation.

"mom," i cut between them. "may you please introduce this man and her- daughter over here?" i gestured at the man and her so called daughter:

she had a boyish haircut and she left slits in her eyebrows, she had her lip pierced and she wore a blazer and black jeans.

"typical lesbian," i whispered into olivia's ear. she nods.

"any chance this is a trap?" i mumble, turning quieter. she eyes me suspiciously.

"girls," my mom yells over our whispering. "i want to introduce you to mr. brooks," she gestured over to the man in the button-up, "and his daughter, madie."

"mads, if you will," her voice was deep and musky, which fits her personality. "bold, of you to assume i'm a girl." her focus returned to her phone and my mom huffed like an annoying aunt.

"ANYWAYS," she half screamed. "emma, you should introduce you and your," she paused. "girlfriend to mr brooks."

"uhm," my mind turned blank. "i'm emma, and this is olivia. i'm 16 and she's 17, we're both in senior year and we graduate this year."

"oh lucky you!" he sounded enthusiastic. "i'm glad that you both are pursuing studying together. may i ask, how long have you guys been together?"

"we met were we were very young," olivia interrupted me, who i was about to say something. "it's been a very long time."

"you don't say," he shrugs.

"you guys are dating? cool," she smiles. it wasn't genuine, like she was plotting something.

"mom," i say out loud. "is that it? we're on a tight schedule." out of the corner of my eye, i see mads smirk.

"pretty tight huh?" her smirk is permanent. olivia blushes but i didn't get it.

"let's go," olivia takes my hand and drags me out.

"oh, by the way babes," my mom yelled at me.

"we're moving into this house. stay as long as you want in olivia's!"
