Millie

I pulled my keys out of the ignition sending the car to sleep. I dropped the keys onto my lap and let out a loud sigh. I took a quick glance at myself through the rear view mirror making sure the bruise under my left eye was still covered. Thankfully it was.

The last thing I needed was to draw attention to myself at the school. I didn't need the parents asking me question and I certainly didn't need my children's teacher questioning me. That wouldn't end well.

My thoughts were put on pause as I saw a couple walking hand in hand past my car.

Ugh.

I wish Calvin my boyfriend would hold my hand.

Hell even just to look my way a show me a smile would be nice.

There was a time when he was happy. Were we both were. Not anymore. Not after the accident.

Things change, people change, you either change with them or your left to pick up the pieces right?

I took another glance at myself, paranoid I know. I showed myself a small nod before jumping out the car. I hit the lock button on my car keys then walked off in the direction of the school gate.

This was my favourite part of  the day, I get to see my babies. Since I had my children I became a stay home mum, I wanted nothing more than to throw myself back at work now that the children were both in full time school. I was a nurse before, I loved every second of it. I was able to help so many different people in a day which brought me so much joy. I built a great group of friends while working there, unfortunately I no longer spoke to any of them. Calvin was dead against going back to work after Layne my youngest came along, and friendship that was a no aswell. So most of my days consumed with housework and clock watching until three o'clock.

I stood outside my daughters class- room. I could see her bright grey eyes through the window. She had her daddy's eyes, she threw a wide smile my way before showing me a small wave. I mirrored her smile before bringing her attention back to her teacher.

I crossed my arms a little as parents started to surround the outside area.

I didn't like being around to many people,  I'm pretty sure you guessed it. I didn't speak to any of the parents I didn't like getting asked questions about my life. I would only lie anyway to prevent the truth from coming out. It was just easier to keep my distance. A win win situation really.

"I saw him again today June," One of the mums whispered to the lady standing next to her.

"You did?" She asked looking a little shocked.

"Yes, he came in my shop" She paused leaning into the mum she continued "I think he likes me." keeping her voice low in the hope no one would hear her, unluckily for me I was standing right behind them so I heard every word.

The mum with bleach blond hair threw her hand up to her chest before gasping a little. "I did hear he was single, It's a shame you have Harry."  I'm guessing Harry is the ladies husband? Could be wrong. One thing I've learnt over the years, never judge people. I stopped doing that two years back.
