The two stood back to back while the angels surrounded them. They looked over their shoulders at each other and smirked. Castiel and Y/N dodged the attacks from the angels that were trying to kill them. As Y/N was fighting one, it knocked his angel blade away.
"Cass!" He threw his to Y/N, and he stabbed the angel. The light faded away from inside him, and he pulled the blade out. He threw it back to Cass, then lunged under another angel's attack to get his. He spun around onto his back and forced the blade into the chest of another angel, whose light also faded. The angel's vessel fell onto him, and he pushed it off to the side. He looked around and saw all the angels were dead except two.
Cass and the other angel were fighting it out, hitting their blades together in unsuccessful jabs at each other. Y/N got up and pulled his blade out of the angel he had just fought. He ran to Cass's side and helped him fight the last angel. The angel swung at Y/N and cut his arm, it wasn't too deep, but it hurt immensely. He switched the blade to his other hand and kept fighting. The angel used his power to throw Y/N to the other side of the room.
He hit the wall and fell to the ground. He tried to push himself up to help Cass, but the angel held him down. Cass got distracted by his hurt friend and was stabbed by the angel. He forgot about Y/N and shoved the blade farther into Cass's chest.
"No!" Y/N jumped up and went to the angel then stabbed him in the back with a blade he found on the floor. Both of the angels fell to the floor, Cass was still barely alive, but the other was not. Y/N grabbed Cass and tried to help him out of the building, but the angel tried to push out of his arms. He knew what would happen if he died in his arms.
"Y/N," Cass said weakly. Y/N kept trying to pull Cass closer, but he kept pushing away with the last of his strength. The light from inside him went out from his eyes and mouth. Y/N pulled him closer and broke down. The wings from his brother were burnt onto his body. The mark was painful; it felt like he was getting branded with melting metal. He held Cass's body as close as he could and cried into his shoulder.
He stood up and carried Cass out to the car, where he laid him in the back seat. The boy climbed into his seat and looked in the rear-view mirror at himself. He took off his jacket and tossed it to the side, then slowly unbuttoned his shirt. He pulled off his grey undershirt and saw the mark his wings had left. He moved his hand to the mark and gently touched it. It stung a little.
He turned the engine over and drove back to the motel he was staying in. He put his button up back on, then went inside to pack up his things and check out quickly. He threw his bag in the trunk, then drove to where the boys were staying four states over. He drove through the entire night, only stopping to refuel once.
He was two hours away when he pulled over. He turned the engine off and looked out the window. The interstate wasn't packed with cars, but there was a constant flow. He looked back at the body in his back seat and broke his image. He turned his back to the door and sat sideways in the seat. He looked down at his friend who had become part of their little, dysfunctional family. His vision went blurry with the tears, so he wiped them away. Once he was as stable as he would get, he got back onto the interstate and finished the drive.
Sam and Dean almost missed the soft knocking on the door. Dean walked over with his gun pulled out and opened the door. Y/N looked horrible. His shirt was wrinkled, his hair disheveled, and Dean could barely see the mark on his chest. He immediately grabbed Dean in a hug and started crying into his chest. Dean looked back at Sammy, who shrugged. He walked over and stood to the side. Dean hugged back confused.
"What's wrong kiddo? I thought you were in Tennessee." The boy nodded into Dean's chest and looked up.
"Cass," he started to tear up again, and that's when Dean connected it. The mark on his chest, the upset young adult in his arms, Cass was dead. Dean knew it hit Y/N the hardest, because Cass was the one who was always there for him, even when him and Sam couldn't be. He was the brother that the boy never had, and the friend he could tell everything to. Cass could always get through to him when needed.

FanfictionShort stories and One-shots, because I'm bad at writing short. Mostly Crowley and Gabe cause they're my favorite. No smut, cause I'm a teenager, and that's just gross and uncomfortable for me. Platonic and Romantic relationships though.
